Hakushaku to Yousei (Earl and Fairy)

Post by quethiril »

This is the feed back thread for Hakushaku to Yousei (Earl and Fairy) at http://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/index ... _to_Yousei

------

Recently adapted into a 12 episode anime series, Hakushaku to Yousei is about Lydia, who is called a "Fairy Doctor" because she specializes in knowledge about fairies and has the ability to see them. She finds a need for her abilities when she meets Edgar, who is seeking the legendary sword that will allow him to claim the title of Blue Knight Earl, a position with ties to the fairy realm. But can she resist his amorous advances while doing her job?!

More details can be found at the English Wikipedia page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hakushaku_to_Y%C5%8Dsei

I am working on lining up a translator for this series, but in the meantime I wanted to see if there is any interest. The anime is certainly far too short to have covered much of the novel series, which currently stands at 15 volumes, but is enough to get a taste for the characters and the mix of dark, complicated plot and Edgar's outrageous womanizing.

My prospective translator owns hardcopies, so unfortunately I have no raws to offer to anyone who wants to help out. Maybe someone else has leads?

P.S. As I only found out recently from looking at the kanji in the novels, the "doctor" in "Fairy Doctor" means doctor in a Ph.D. sense, not doctor in a M.D. sense. Though it'll take me a while to start seeing Lydia as an academic rather than someone who helps fairies out with their ills.

Most projects, if not all, just requires a translator. If you can find a translator for it, it will probably go through and get approved. However, that is the most important part, whether you can find a translator here. Good luck finding one. Though I am not personally a big fan of this series, I would think that this can get its own group of readers.

Ermmm, Oni, shouldnt there be something else more important to point out? That begging doesnt work on B-T? Due to the lack of translators?

To VioletJersey, Sorry, though this is indeed a light novel translation site, we tend to ALWAYS have a lack of translators. So you will have to either interest one of the current translators, or new ones, to translate for you. As to how you are going to interest them, with money or whatever, I dunno, oni, is that allowed?

P.S. don't ask me about this, I saw the first episode of the anime and was not interested enough to continue, besides, i have other projects to work on... SnS has been stalled for quite a bit and I am imagining that some people are breathing down my neck for that... I AM WORKING ON IT OKAY??? JUST GIMME TIME!!! I just got home at 10pm!!

I thought the whole point of opening of one of these threads was for people to express interest (or disinterest) in a project. No need to discourage opinions by pointing out B-T's shortage of translators. Plus, I already said in my first post that I am working on convincing someone to translate this. (And not a current B-T member, so no worries about sniping from another project.) I will pass along all begging. ;)

Yes, I guess expressing interest or disinterest in a project is fine, but not really begging ^^" At least not the way Violet does I think? To be offering money... I think that is a little overdoing it... but oh well, Who am i to talk? LOLz

Nice! Does that mean we don't have to start this project anymore? :P
