So just to be sure the last few episode aren't in the novels then? Cuz I've watched all the season just to get ready for this one and it doesn't fit to canon? Sometimes tv hurts my brain when they do that sort of thing.

So the anime ends with the BS dragon ending up like the red eyes black dragon when it fought the time wizard (yu-gi-oh) and the main characters fianlly get married and go to meet Saito's family...

It is happy ending but the events which led to it in the last 3-4 episodes were too......bland to make me feel satisfied. I wish ZnT anime could get an ending as awesome as Shakugan no Shana did.
All our hopes of learning the true story lie on the translators now :|

Excuse me! That ending was purely fantastic! I LOVED IT! (well considering i love ZnT...).... But it was so great! It's sad that the anime is finished, but yeah, can't wait to read the true story too ^^

Still learning Japanese to read it! Hope the two last volumes will come out soon ^^

Well to be frank it was not the endign that was the problem but the plot which lead to it which was not in the volumes

Yea indeed, but since the beginning of the anime nothing was in order so I can't really blame....

Personally, the last few seasons made the final season look "not so bad".

So, this is about Sili's comment about by worst adaptations list.

Well, Sili, the point wasn't that it didn't follow the story...The problem was that the ending completely destroyed what ZnT was supposed to be.

In my opinion, Saito and Louise had to go through a lot. They had to fight, to travel, to win and all that stuff. That was what kept me reading. There were enemies and goals. However, the anime really did...made it look much too childish this time.

In my opinion, ever since the second season, the anime has been going downfall. The problem with season 4 was that it abused all the possible clichés. Airplanes ex Machina, screaming each other's name repetitively, Saito jumping out of nowhere, and worst of all, a happy ending were two normally walk in the main character's house.

This is not drama, and I'm not expecting it to have some overly-deep meanings to them like Book Girl, nor some characters dying tragically like Shinsekai. But please, there is a problem with Saito not able to return home. It's not something you can brush it off easily.

I remember how ZnT season 1 was. For example, Henrietta losing her lover; Saito's laughable moments; Louise's actions that didn't seem so bad and that Void magic + airplane at the end. In season 2, there was less fantastic stuff, but hey, there were some emotional and touching scenes with the wedding, especially Saito's "death". Even in season 3, the conflict with Gallia and the stuff with Tabitha were acceptable. But season 4 lacks a bunch of things and misses a bunch o opportunities.

For one, Tiffania must be developed better. Season 4 was mainly about inter-world development, with the elves and the humans. This could be used to make Tiffania go against Saito and the others. Or it could be used to develop Tiffania's personality and some surprising characteristics she holds as an half-elf.

Secondly, the supporting characters lacked some depth. Kirche and Siesta are the main people I'm thinking of. Both seem to be very unidimensional. Siesta could have been a character more interesting if we knew more of her personality, her strengh and weaknesses, etc. The only one that was fairly developed is Tabitha; but again, that was what Season 3 was mainly about.

As for the ending, I could say much more, but I'll stop here. But really, even though I said it was better after some episodes that were simply bad in the past one, I still hoped for more...really, JC should stick to the SoL drama/romance series and stop killing the fantasy ones.

The elemental siblings also will play a heavy part in vol 21-22, i think. The author heavily hints that they have a grand plan (not sure what though) to achieve. All in all, with the amazing fourth familiar, the pace of the story will be quicker than before and the storyline perhaps, hopefully epic. The anime really ruined that....................
Spoiler! :
The elemental siblings are shown to use magic very similar to Ancient Magic......and they don't just pop up here and there......
