Re: Zero no Tsukaima Names and Terminology
I'm a noob to this. I have read thought all the comments of over 250. OOh My head hurts. Trying to keep track of the monarch of English, German, French, and others mix together.
This is for the wand, cane, and staff talk. The way I break it down is any rod thing under 2 foot I would say it a wand. 3 foot to about 4 foot would be a cane. 5 foot to say about 7 foot would be a staff. Any of them can have a hook, ball, or gem. Tabitha has a staff and maybe Osmand. Wardes I thought has a sword at first until I saw the rounded metal tip. Because it is so short it wouldn't be any good for a walking cane so he to keep it in the belt ether in the belt or a belt holder. Since it has a hand shield (hilt) it look like he can use it for blocking defense and pushing the other person aways so not to get back splash from a spell with somebody being too close. The same with a staff. The trick is to not have other person that close.

Excuse me. I'm Vietnamese and also a fansubber who is making Vietsub of ZNT anime. I've heard a lot about your quality of translations, they're really good. So I've read your ZNT translations for my subs. But I've got a little problem, some of character's names from your guideline are different from your translations (and other sources also), I'm really confused, which ones are right and which ones are wrong. That's why I need your help to correct them. Here is the list:
+Familiar Gandálfr or Gandalfr
+Charlotte Hélène d'Orléans or Charlotte Helene Orléans de Gallia
+Headmaster Osman or Headmaster Osmound or Headmaster Osmond
+Motsognir or Mótsognir
+Mathilda of Saxe-Gotha or Mathilda of Sachsen-Gotha
+Eleanor de la Vallière or Éléonore de la Vallière
+Julio Cesar or Julio Chesaré
+Windalfr or Windálfr or Vindálfr
+Tyffania Westwood or Tiffania Westwood
+Knight of Ondine or Knight of Undine
I don't know where I should post this request, so if I got the wrong place, please forgive me. I'm looking forward to hear from you. Sorry to bother you all. Thank you.
P/S: I'm not really good at writing, sorry again.

Re: Zero no Tsukaima Names and Terminology
I can't answer all. But as a French speaker, I'd say it would be Charlotte Hélène d'Orléans, but not sure for 'Gallia'. I also think that it's Tiffania Westwood, Mathilda of Saxe-Gotha and Julio Cesar (I think Julio Caesar is also good). I'd say Osmond, and Eléonore.tsukianime wrote:Excuse me. For others, I think using Wikipedia wouldn't be bad.

Re: Zero no Tsukaima Names and Terminology
Someone should really open a page in the wiki to collect the official names and terminology...or is there already one.
In volume 18, chp 4, there are three street names which I'm not sure of their translations.
罗兰街
克里冯街
贝鲁?艾尔
can anyone check out the raws?

Winter's the time of the year,
when the cold chill the skin,
from the very within,
but you grasped my hand,
your eyes shedding a frozen tear.
Our eyes met,
and warmth filled the air.

Would the sandwellie be a Saint something since it's a monastery/church?

No, I think it would be セント or サン but not サンド.
However, I'm not sure.
