Do you know other language than English?

Post by Devenk83 »

Well, when I was reading the "How do you learn Japanese?" topic I was wondering if the member of BT know others languages, and which one. So, I decided to create this topic with a poll to know that. I will not put "English" in the poll because it's obvious that everyone here have notion of it.

In my case, I also know French and I have some notion of Portuguese and Spanish. I also want to learn Japanese but I don't have the guts for it ><.

Reason: Added Cantonese to poll.

Well, I know Hindi and Bengali and have some notion of Punjabi(Indian regional language). I also tried learning Japanese for like 1 week, but then realized that I don't have enough time to devote to learning it everyday.

So except for Czech (my maternal language) and English, I can understand (not really speak) Slovak and little understand/speak French... I would also like to learn Japanese (and probably Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, German and some others....) but I don't really know where to find time for that :D

N'est-elle pas belle, la langue de mon pays ? (TL: Isn't it beautiful, the language of my country?)

Well, I think that everyone here is interested by Japanese if they haven't learned it yet. But to have the time and courage to learn it, it's another thing...

In order of profiency:

French, English, Spanish, Mandarin (can only understand bribes of words), Japanese (only katakanas) and Ancient Greek (only remember the letters).

And random words from other languages, like "keluar" in Malay. (And you should take it.)

Fufu, I want to speak French fluently so the test tomorrow (and final exams in May. Because yeah. I'm going to take finals from French in with I can barely say something about myself.) would be a piece of cake...

Being from Switzerland, I speak German for my mother tongue and some French that I was forced to study at school for a few years (because it's one of our national languages).

Apart from that, I obviously (?) also know Japanese. :D

Oh, that's nice of you :3 But I'm little worried that I don't even know enough grammar. And really, how many tenses do you have? o.o We've already learnt 6 and I have a bad feeling that it's not even near the final number.

Hmm... I'm from Poland so I know Polish. Also in Primary School I learnt German (3 years), in Secondary School it was French (3 years) and now again German and Japanese (1 year).
Sometimes I understand Russian, Czech and Slovak when I'm listening to people speaking in there languages.

PS: Someone help me with my French :)
Eeeee... muszę iść się ogolić.
