The dark side of Louise De La Vallière

I was pretty shocked when I found out about this. Did you know that a certain Louise really existed? She was a courtesan under Louis XIV! I never thought that such a character would be the lead of an anime...

It's actually a stupid post, I know that myself, but as I have no friends around me currently watching Zero No Tsukaima I had to tell someone. Thank you for your time.

Well, if you are observant enough, you will find that many anime series derive their settings and characters from reality. I know that sounds like a stupid and obvious thing to say, but many examples of this exist. ZnT is only one of them, with the countries resembling Germany, France, and England along with a few others. Much of the technology in Gundam actually has somewhat of a scientific basis, meaning that much of it is entirely possible.

Real life imposing itself on anime is more common than one might think.

Example:

Anime
Kino no Tabi

Real setting: Mexico and areas to the north of it.

Really about: The travels of Eusebio Kino in his attempts to Christianize the native American peoples.

Anime
Mahou Shoujou Lyrical Nanoha.

Real setting: East Las Angeles.

Real Plot: Rival drug gangs fight to take control of the drug trade within LA. Everything is metaphore.
