It would seem that the voice actors for the upcoming Haruhi dub have not been set in stone. Right now, they have four auditions for Mikuru's voice on their site and you can vote for the one you like best!

Hopefully this is an honest attempt to get input from the fan community. That would be most awesome.

pretty much voted for the second one... guh, this dubbed will suck, what happen to the good old days, actors like steve blum and wendy lee (not that they aren't still doing stuff), I could respect those english voices. people can't act anymore (ie:hayden christiansen).

Just listening to the first choice alone made me too scared to listen to any other.

Why don't they just turn it into a silent drama? It would be way more awesomer than anything on offer right now.

For some reason, I get the feeling that they're gonna cast in some lame VA that sounds as bad as one of those Ps2 Game Dubs (Think of FFX's Tidus and his horrible laugh). How in the world are they going to pull this off? =.=

Somehow, they all suck. I voted for the second choice anyway, I felt it was the closest English can probably get or will pay to anyway.

i think it's somewhat revealing that it can sound relatively "normal" in japanese, and yet so lame and cheesily porno in english. haha

I think the lack of music and other character's voices in the clips makes it worse.

Yeah, that's definitely a factor. But the voice acting in Haruhi was very good in my opinion. The entire cast seemed to have voices that fit their look and personality very well.

I think it sounds pretty "porno" in Japanese as well, if not quite so cheesy.

But dubs are a real problem. The voices never sound right. Well, rarely. The American VA's performance of Tohru in Fruits Basket was arguably superior to her Japanese counterpart's. But how often does that happen? Normally it's just Monica Rial and a couple of Houston's cheapest dayplayers.

And the translations are often pretty dodgy. They should get some of Baka-Tsuki translators involved in script-writing process.

but then again no.1 & 2 is for pure pornographic win!

I like no.04 she sounds slightly mature, as mikuru is a senior, but i vote no.1 cos i want mikuru porn.

Sorry to break your heart, but two is walking away with it (she was the leaste bad) and will almost certainly get the part.
