Offline, Free-to-Play or Subscription?

I'm just wondering what kind of games people prefer.

I'm 80% on offline games, mainly RPGs, and 20% on Free-to-Play games.

offline, but mostly old ones. EX. Age of Empires, Battle Realms (my fav.), Impossible Creatures, Age of Mythology, etc.

offline oldies as well, Starcraft BroodWar and C&C Gen ZH. once upon a time i enjoyed various private servers of Ragnarok Online, until i discovered what i could get from torrents and couldn't spare the bandwidth anymore  . IF i really feel out-of-pace regarding VNs, there's NFS Underground 2, but that's like, once a month?

subscription beats F2P games. cos F2P always end up being P2W games.

Have not touched MMORPGs or anything for quite a long time

Been hanging out in the offline mode of games such as Age of Empires 3, DiRT 2 and FIFA 12

Recently, I have been playing a lot of Ragnarok Online 2. It has been a lot of fun and very rewarding, especially for being a free-to-play game that you can download from Steam. *insert shameless plug here* I am currently looking for people that I can party with on a consistent basis. Please PM me if you are interested.

I'll see your P2W theory and raise you 'LOL', 'SMITE', and any other MOBA game I can get my hands on easily.

F2P is fine if done right, the biggest problem is so many do it wrong.
Offline and F2P for me. Though you leave out the Online paid games (like BF3) that don't take a subscription.

Examples:
Offline: Civilization V (I DARE you to try and play a sane online match that doesn't span several weeks)
Online Pay: Battlefield 3
Free to Play: League of Legends
Subscription: World of Warcraft

Offline is the way to go for me... My country has a crappy connection and I play on a crappy machine... Also, I prefer story-driven, open-ended games over MMOs (free to play or subsciption (because I'm poor)).

@ermitanyo / Hermit: 8) , a 1Mbps aDSL around the capital (NCR) isn't that expensive nowadays, though getting a machine with good specs is sure to empty your wallet some..

I normally only play offline games on my console or PC. I stopped playing MMO's because they either sucked up all of my time, or I didn't have enough time to fully enjoy them.
However I might try Ragnarok 2. I didn't know it was finally out, and RO was probably my favourite game eons ago (actually 8~10 years or so).

I usually played Online f2p games, mostly MMORPG or MMOFPS, till like 4 months ago, but then I grew tired of playing the same thing over and over, albeit in different packaging. Then when I saw Ragnarok Online 2 - open beta was starting for NA server, I quickly downloaded it, hoping to enjoy a great and innovative game like its predecessor, RO. But, I must say that I was disappointed. They stripped off most of the features that made RO work, and turned RO2 into just another generic MMORPG. Within like a week, I quit RO2 and am not going to play another MMORPG for a while now, unless I find one which catches my eye.

What features are you referring to? Granted, RO2 is a completely different game from RO, but many, if not most, of the mechanics are still there and more or less the same.
