There is no such thing as a coincidence in this world, there is only the inevitable.

That is not the full quote, is it? I remember it being longer, from Ef.There is no such thing as a coincidence in this world, there is only the inevitable.

yes, that is true, but I am sure I remember that being Yu's favorite line.
Upon checking, it is essentially the same line if you replace 'coincidence' with 'miracle'.

Well I kind of remember seeing this line in many other pieces. I think it is a line which about half of japanese authors use at least once. (with small changes)

Bumping for curiosity sake. Sure feels weird seeing my younger self post such things:

Re: Survey for Existing/Potential Jpn/Ch -> Eng Translators
Hey I may be interested in starting to do some translations, and to my wholly respected teh_ping, do you still remember me? I sent you a pm on facebook once haha. Anyways thanks a lot for your baka to test and SAO translations! Really enjoyed them both!
If I were to help out with translating, I guess I will start with Hidan no Aria, since it is one of the LN that I personally enjoy a lot but has yet to catch up to the latest volume in terms of English translations.
Yeah so now that I have more free time to spare I'm thinking why not? Although my project to learn Japanese has stalled, at least with my meagre knowledge of the Chinese language I may still be able to do a little translating work, maybe a chapter at most in probably a weeks time if I am in a good condition.Teh_ping wrote:Bumping for curiosity sake. Don't you just love reading? I think it is one of the joys of life, where we can escape the cold reality of the world and exist in something so much more fun and exciting! ^_^

Re: Survey for Existing/Potential Jpn/Ch -> Eng Translators
Since I'm new at this and all, I'd say it depends on the difficulty of the novel itself. Something that's pretty heavy on terminologies or novel-specific words (i.e. Unbreakable Machine Doll, Blade Dance among others) I generally won't touch because I can't handle terminologies, especially if it appears in the novel quite often. However, if it's a comedy novel, I might consider doing because it's something I enjoy after all. But I won't say I will 100% do comedy novels as I'm not confident that I can fully bring out the humour in the novels. I can make attempts, sure, but it's not something I dare to guarantee, due to a lack of experience.

Actually blade dance is easy if you have the Jp raw for looking up the name. Considering the whole text is mostly composed of girls' moaning and the likes.
