Plot:
The story is set in Japan a millennium from now. Five children — Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun — have been born and raised in a tranquil town that can be described as a utopia, overflowing with water and green foliage. The world is ruled by people who have the "cursed power" or the "gods' power" of telekinesis.

After a certain incident, Saki and the others come to realize the true nature of their world. Before long, they learn everything, including the bloody history that brought humanity to this state. The five throw themselves into life-threatening adventure and fight to protect friends and a world on the brink of collapse.

Personal:
I believe it'd be a read worth translating...obviously, since I'm making this. It's a darker themed novel that I think would be a lot more detailed and interesting than the anime. Which already is already pretty interesting and dark. However, it's pretty long...so yeah.

hmm, i can't find the light novel of this series anywhere in the web but oh well. It'll be interesting of some translators could translate this series, but since they're quite busy right now and then, i guess not really.

Do you plan to translate the whole novel?

However, we’re hoping that the anime will do well enough for a US company to translate and publish the novel in English.

Given all the costs involved in licensing, translating, then publishing (most likely with commission), there's no way in hell any company will want to do that, for a SINGLE volume. It's almost guaranteed to be a loss.

I would like to see this translated for three reasons

1) I know hardly any Japanese, so reading a novel, especially one with a lot of non-Jouyou kanji such as this, is beyond my capability and will be for a few years

2) I'm greatly enjoying the ongoing anime series

3) IIRC the novel has won several awards in Japan, so it will more than likely be a good book to read

I'll just say that this is a good story. Largely plot driven but some parts were rather poignant.

It follows the protagonists at each stage along their lives and yes...it is dark.

The anime is up to the latter half of volume two of the bunko version.

I really hope that this would get translated already. The anime left some parts out and, of course, almost every fan might want to read its parent material, no?
