Errr....school zone? Best I can come up with that doesn't sound dumb...
School zone is actually a road in most cases....I should know...driving tonners through them with instructors rambling away next to you tends to do thatlarethian wrote:problem is that it won't fit with the sentences.
ack, can't type Jpn on this PC, but something like:
She walked along the "road used for commuting to school". so school zone won't really fit, unless my understanding of school zone is wrong. actually I loosely translated the chapter title in volume 3 which uses the same word as well.
通学路
route to and from school
school road
school route
school-commuting roads
通学路を通る
go through a school zone
子どもを標的にした犯罪が次々と起きているため、通学路の安全も大きな心配の種の一つです。
After a series of crimes targeting children, safety on the way to school is another big concern. 全文表示
最も安全な道を通学路にする
take the safest way to and from school
私は、4年間この通学路線を往復している。
I've taken this same trip back and forth from school for four years.
I don't know if it works in Japanese, but how about 'the path/road to school'?larethian wrote:any smart way to translate 通学路?
'School Zone' is an area where you need to drive slowly and pay attention to the students, normally. It applies to an 'area' and not really 'routes'.Cosmic Eagle wrote: School zone is actually a road in most cases....I should know...driving tonners through them with instructors rambling away next to you tends to do that
But if you want an alternative...road to school?
They are normally single lane short roads. Although on checking the sentence, just a simple road to school will fit in better and sound less awkward.kira0802 wrote:

It sounds like a music sampling room....you know for recording and playing and all those audio equipment and stuff...dunno what you call it...If it's doubtful I think it's best to just leave it as playroom....Or read on and see if it describes the room more or not.larethian wrote:I think "school road" with a translation note is the best choice now. "school route" and "school zone" seems to much more ambiguous.
anyway, that aside, what is a "プレイルーム"? In the context, it's a room next to the AV room and the music room on the sixth floor of a high school, so I don't think it's a playground of any sort. thanks again in advance.
