The point is that they set it up in the anime so there's a reason why Kibaou is a jackass

The way the things are proceeding...

I feel it's better translate the last 4 pages of volume 3 and forget about the anime for some time to cure my depression...And the national fansubs are translating "beater" to "batedor" (scout). *Sigh*

you should totally infiltrate the Portuguese localisation office and have them do what the french localisation team apparently does: work with the author.

Too many groups translating by their own, without reading the original work and don't giving a shit about the novel. Even if I ask only the bigs groups, they will, politely, reply: "You don't give orders to us, kunikida!!" and ignore my words.

At least, the anime will attract more people to the light novels. (After all, this is the anime goal).

Maybe that''be a surprise for you, but the goal of the anime is making money :). Popularization of the ranobe is just a side effect.

Not necessarily so. It depends. Many LN anime adaptations are actually partially sponsored by the publishers to increase the light novel sales. It's just that for SAO, it's already top selling, so it might be the anime company that approached the publisher instead.

Eh, it looks like they're hitting the main points, at least (and Argo's there).
Art's good as ever.

...I'm really hoping it turns out well.
There's lots of content, so if they rush too much, the pacing will...

Thank you for the wonderful news.
So that's what Argo looks like.
I hope so too.
Under the unceasing illuminations reflected through the blue moon, the dance slowly increase pace to its summit. As the dance reached its conclusion, the stars at the edge of the horizon starts to dim.

Yep. Well, just to illustrate this, the First Semester Bestsellers:
Spoiler! :
*1, 587,891 Biblia Koshoten no Jikentecho vol.1
*2, 446,631 Biblia Koshoten no Jikentecho vol.2
*3, 253,678 Koimonogatari
*4, 249,938 Toaru Majutsu no Index: New Testament vol.3
*5, 220,504 Bokura ga Ita (Anime relased on 2006 and the series ended this year)
*6, 200,100 Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai vol.10
*7, 199,950 Toaru Majutsu no Index: New Testament vol.4
*8, 194,649 Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu vol.10
*9, 136,213 Sword Art Online vol.9
10, 132,549 Another vol.1
And the list also contain: Durarara!!, DxD, Papa no Iukoto, Hidan no Aria and Accel World. Obviously, all are popular light novels but many of today fans first watched the anime...

BtT, SAO will not be totally adapted, finishing on Fairy Dance or not. Another cliffhanger end?

The 3rd episode looks more promising and faithful than the 2nd, yet...
Spoiler! :
With two stories to cover (flashback + quest), it may be rushed...

Red-nosed Reindeer is only 52 pages in the original JP version, while Aria is about 140 pages, so I don't think you have to worry much about it being rush. If you want to worry, it's episode 5, which is supposed to be Murder Case in the Area, that's more than 200 pages cramming into a single episode (if the source about the name of episode 2-5 is corrected anyway).

I think that the flahback could be told differently, and the fight could be different from the LN, since action seems to be one of the main focus for the anime.
But, yeah, A Murder Case in the Area will tell if SAO will be compacted into one cour.

The bulk of the story's on the flashback, anyway.
Judging from the preview, they're just making it in entirely chronological order.
The first half's probably Kirito meeting and playing with Black Cats, then second half's the end of Black Cats + Christmas scene.
Argo's scene will probably be short as heck. I hope they'll give enough time for that scene all the way at the end, though.

About the LN popularisation thing, here's the list of "readers recommended series" from the first half of the year (surveyed from book stores across Japan):
Spoiler! :
■5位『Full Metal Panic!
And mind you, here's the current weekly sales rankings of Rakuten. (screencap)
All 10 volumes of SAO are in the top 16 at the moment, with 10, 1 and 2 in the top 3 positions.

Oh, and totally unrelated, but the special promotion for buying the whole set of the anime's Blu-ray & DVD at Toranoana - a chance to win a replica of Elucidator.
