Japanese is one of the most difficult languages for English speakers to learn. Unless you are incredibly talented with languages then you are going to have a very hard time learning it. It'll require years of near constant effort. I am trilingual and have serious trouble with Japanese.

Hey I'm glad about the license and all but i am curious now. Lets say YenPress doesn't sell Mahouka very well in like the first 3 volumes and they decide to drop it. Will you guys here at Baka-tsuki reupload your translations of the volumes if and this is a big IF cause i feel YenPress will sell very well they dont sell well? Just a question that popped into my head not too long ago.

Yes they would ... although it wouldn't happen immediately.

it's all explained in the sites abandonment policy:
Baka-Tsuki may reinstate activity on an abandoned project if there is evidence that the publisher has dropped or ceased translations on a particular light novel series.

All of these may be valid reasons for reinstating activity on a project:

Publisher has announced they will no longer continue to translate a particular light novel series.
Publisher shows no sign of activity on a series for ONE YEAR or more:

Lack of activity is defined as the lack of publications or the lack of announcements regarding future possible publications on the project.

Reinstatement Scope

If the conditions for project reinstatement are met, Baka-Tsuki will restore the following:

All unpublished volumes will be restored to the Wiki, except for a three-volume buffer from the most recently published volume.

The three-volume buffer will be maintained just in case the publisher resumes activity.

No activity can occur on the three-volume buffer. No translations may be uploaded onto the three-volume buffer.
Otherwise, contributors are free to work on all restored volumes and any future volumes that may be added to the series.

However, don't expect it. We're talking about YenPress. Those guys are able to sell any LN, due to their reputation.

We have now gotten some split opinions on this thread but keep in mind what we're complaining about (should I speak for myself?) is not really mainly the licensing which due remember, is a good thing but the fact that volume 15 has already been release and from what I understand, is more or less 50% completely translated. With the way volume 14 ended on a cliff hanger, and to have to wait 3+ years just to find out what happened after that? Seriously? If we get volume 15, we should have no no complains. Just read something else to pass the time or learn Japaneses.

With that said, I think we should at least get volume 15 since we still have plenty of time and other reasons as stated above.

You can tell how much I like this series since Tatsuya is my avatar but........

Hahaha as much as I want to agree with you, I also understand that BT may not allow it if it risks have greater consequences. We also don't know how this 50% is determined unfortunately :( they could throw the book at us and say that it needs to be 50% done, as in being uploaded. Or take the word that it is actually 50% but in progress?

I haven't seen anyone mention being 50% done, but I haven't actively searched for TLers saying that. It really looks like we'll have to wait and see? :S

50% of volume 15 finished???????? Are you blind?

If you check the registration page for translation you will notice that only the 2 chapters at the beginining are registered for.

I am less than halfway through chapter 6 and chapter 7 which Joay is registered for is at least a hundred pages long.

Chapter 8 is also at least a hundred pages long.

The only translator of MKR I know of who has completed a hundred page chapter in less than a month is Dreyakis and he cannot work unless there is a Chinese translation.

If you read the cessation rules, it is clear that to finish volume 15, we would have to be at least 50% done by some time in May. After that we would be allowed about two months to finish up.

Page wise if both Joay and I finished our chapters before the deadline, it would count as 50%. However, I doubt Joay has enough time between now and May to complete chapter 7.

Guys, we have to be realistic, there is very little chance of volume 15 getting finished.

If I remember correctly, it was said somewhere that volume 15 is already translated or already 50%+ translated and they just wait for complete volume 14 before putting it.

Just did some quick math that assuming Yen Press releases a Mahouka volume every three months it wont be until April 2019 that we will get Volume 15.

This was my point, I don't know where the 50% came from (granted I haven't dug through posts to find proof of it) and as Sashiko was saying, it's a difficult task to get through 50% which is why I'm not holding my breath :(

Everyone keeps mentioning this 50% done thing, but I honestly have no idea where it's coming from, can someone link it at least?

Also doesn't YenPress own the rights to High School DxD? I thought they did but how come Baka-tsuki is able to keep those Volumes up?

Yen press only licensed the DxD manga. They haven't licensed the LN, which is the reason why Baka Tsuki is still able to keep the DxD volumes on their site.

Like i said in a previous post,
to wait 3+ years just to find out what happen after that? Seriously?
Volume 15 is what we/I want this year then we/I can be like a good child(red) and wait patiently or like anxious ones and find someway to read the rest sooner than expected.

As i'm happy for Mahouka to get licensed, i also very sad because I can't wait long enough for another 4-5 year to read volume 15 and my country not even shipping goods from US.

Can someone asking YP how many volume of mahouka they want to publish so we can keep atleast volume 10+ or from Second Year Arc in BT just like NT...?

When you started reading the series on Baka-Tsuki, you were supposed to be aware of its rules.
You knew that this kind of situation might appear, and you started reading anyway. In the end, it's your own fault if you have to wait so much time.
I feel sorry for you, but that's what it is. We won't go to the dark side just because you wanna know what happens next.
