For me, one of the most interesting plots since Haruhi Suzumiya came out.

Ah, so it wasnt only about the senior class, but the whole school...

umm...I think literally, Taichi is tall amongst the senior 1 boys while Inaba is tall amongst the girls in the whole school.

How about "Taichi is tall for a boy in the first year of high school and Inaba is one of the tallest girls in the entire school." as an English translation that flows better. (People don't use amongst much.)
