Please PM me your e-mail address so I can send you the working document. It only has two more pages of raw text typed in, above and beyond what I translated and posted earlier. As for your change in the book title, it's frankly as good as mine. I have no complaint. The title itself is rather on the vague side to an English speaker:

2週間でわかる? SE入門
Ni-shuu-kan de wakaru? SE nyuumon.

Ni-shuu-kan de = Over two weeks time / In two weeks time / In the space of two weeks / Inside of two weeks

wakaru = (v5r,vi) (1) to understand; to comprehend; to grasp; to see; to get; to follow; (2) to become clear; to be known; to be discovered; to be realized; to be realised; to be found out;

nyuumon = Introduction

My "raws", so to speak, are the printed books. My normal procedure is a bit painful, but intended to strengthen my grasp of the language, is to transcribe from the book into Microsoft Word (thereby improving my kanji skills), then cheat horribly by processing the resultant text through my translation helper program, and then sweat over the results and try to make sense of the grammar. One of the results of this effort, however, is a nice Word version of whatever book or manga I happen to be working on.

I can't agree with the TL. The first part plays with or is related to the 2nd part, which is some sort of terminology based on what I've referred based on the series of titles. In some sense, the 1st part is a caption to the 2nd part. Something like this:

Code: Select all

Knowing it in 2 weeks? Introduction to SE
Well, the question mark feels out of place(I would preferably suggest stuff without '?' but I didn't want to confuse anyone) but I guess once you've read thru it and get a better feel of the author's style, you should better understand what he/she's trying to put across.

I see.

I'll check it out after I'm done with the first chapter...

@rapopo FYI it looks like one of your Kanji's is wrong: SE入門 rather then SE入問

Ah, that's a play on the classic "Learn X" IT-book title pattern, nice to see Japanese has a variety of it. The English equivalent would be banal "Learn SE in 2 weeks?" >.< Anyway, I expect the ? is there as a deliberate "I can't quite believe it" emphasis (I know every-time I saw a "Learn C++/Java/C#/whatever in 24 hours!" book I had this reaction: :roll: ).

Anyway here's an example of the Japanese Title in action on a real book: http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/4532407443/r ... _6?ie=UTF8 ("Information Security Specialist: Know it in a week" would be how I'd phrase it even though that's not what you know, but what you are, (but you work with the words you have not the words you want), but that's me. :P )

I saw the error in the kanji and fixed it already... I had the translation of that word right, in any case.

I give up. This is subjective, but it's rather boring and I'd rather do DAL or a new one.

For adults... When I've already bought the entire series.

Well, I'll do this when the anime starts... Or when I'm done with HnA. I simply don't bother to multitask.

Actually, I'm back because... I have no idea, actually. I still want to complete a few chapters though.

I recently picked up this LN series and am interested in starting on TL. Is anyone actually still working on this?

I'd like to say go ahead, but unfortunately this was one of the series hit by the recent DMCAs (related one). BT is still in the process of cleaning up from that, and I don't think the policy has been spelled out entirely, but in cases like this one where the entire series was deleted, I think the rule is that they can't be restarted on BT (that's why it's in the "abandoned" subforum).
