Re: Revision of Forum Censorship
We can retain the consors on the general forums, which I think are more prone, and remove the filters on the project boards.

Denied, remove the filters everywhere.
Most of us are adults here, and half of the people on this forum have mod powers so if there is an aggressive usage of profanity it will not go on for long.

deliberately getting around the state censorship is hardly the proper example a member of the wiki-communist should show, even though it was quite an interesting method you use there.
The internet sees censorship as damage and routes around it.

Heck, give the moderators something to do at least.

Re: Revision of Forum Censorship
After not posting for nearly half a year, I'm still trying to get used to the new interface.
Anyway, to put in me 2 cents, I'm for scrapping this censor, it's too robotic and inflexible. It will largely depends on the user's self-discipline, and with good modding, I'm sure most users here would have enough common sense to not deliberately abuse the lack of a swear-censor.

You can go into the control panel and change the forum layout back to the old style just so you know. Welcome back.Kinny Riddle wrote:After not posting for nearly half a year, I'm still trying to get used to the new interface.

I know this is an old topic, but I've just joined.Kaisos Erranon wrote:Yeah... some of them are kinda, yeah, like "bollocks"...
How is that a curse word?
FYI, Bollocks is english slang for testicles (balls in the vernacular^_^,) so yes, it's a curse in england.
On the other hand, I'm against censorship in any form. So my vote would have been dump it.

Welcome to Baka-Tsuki, you are an official Baka as of now!!
Well, one thing about censorship, since we are doing translations, it is highly possible that there are other suitable words to use. And since distorting the meaning intended is NOT a result we want, i would think most would say no to such censorship. If the novel is not suitable for 18 and below or something, and is stated in the novel, then we just translate this statement and make it visible. Or else, if they do not require censorship in Japan, why should we?
God!!
You need not forgive me.
For those I love,
The violence brought about by sinful men
Shall now be used once more.
If you were created to save this world,
If there is a single shred of hope left for the future of mankind,
I am very sorry, but, please begone!
