To be honest, we are doing this precisely because we want to make light novels more mainstream. Unlike onemanga, which was putting up something that was licensed, we are putting up 'unlicensed' work in the US. Also, this place isn't as under the radar as you think it is. This is the leading place of light novel promotion in English and other languages (except Chinese)

Besides, you have to give it up to the man who created that app.
I think from a publishers perspective there is a big difference between tolerating a simple translation project and allowing the same translation project to branch off into smart phone app distribution of there copyrighted material. The rest of the community may very well disagree with me but I think this move is dangerous and an unnecessary risk to a great site.

I agree with this being a risky venture. Regardless if most of our works are still unlicensed, it's still painting a big target on the site. That's just my two cents though. I hope it all goes smoothly.

Nice app Andy. 8)

Well, you're right that we're making ourselves a bigger target here. The only solution? Play dead when they come hunting us down. No seriously, we will comply to any company who comes at us with a C&D to take down the project. Just look at the 3 series that were taken down.

That's why I save all my translations after every volume. I'd hate to lose all that work.

As for me, I'll just download the pdfs. I also keep my work in case I have to use it for my portfolios in my interviews. (So far, I managed to use it once, so that's a start.)

Don't worry we will get plenty of warning before handy, I regularly use an Android App that lets me download unlicensed Scanlated Manga from three different online manga hosts, which i can read offline as well.

It works just like BakaReader but with three different source, now i'm pretty sure if anything were to be pulled first, it's going to be this App first! So if this happens, i think it will give us a day to brace ourselves and kiss our beautiful sweet bottoms goodbye.

Google reports 56 active installs.
andyrobo123 wrote:Version 1.0.0 lasted about 24hours, lets hope version 1.0.1 lasts longer.
Well version 1.0.1 looks like it will last about 24 hours as well. Expect version 1.0.2 in a little over an hour with more bug fixes.

Please feel free to send me suggestions and bug reports, if I don't know about a bug then I can't fix it.

Haven't looked at all the novels but for Index, it only shows two actual chapters up. There are five total entries but the rest are illustrations.

I don't think there's gonna be too much of a copyright concern (beyond what we already have anyway). If the publishers think it's a problem, they will ask Google to take the app down.

On a slightly unrelated note, is it just me or is the 'eyeball' icon a bit freaky? I mean, you have to press on the eyeball to select the item.
