Accel World
Has anyone watch the pre-air version of the first two episodes? The quality wasn't very good but I still enjoyed it. Now the 3-week wait until Episode 3....

Re: Accel World
Starting tomorrow night. I will miss you guys while I am on break, but the good news is that I will probably find plenty of goodies to share when I get back. Take it as my version of "Accel World."

Re: Accel World
The pre-air was actually quite interesting, the whole futuristic concept about communications might be spot on after all...
This is based on a Light Novel, right? If it plays well, I'd give the LN a shot.

Re: Accel World
The first two Accel World episodes aired on TokyoMX seemed to capture the attitude of the light novels fairly well. There was even the requisite amount of pseudo-flirting between the two main protagonists. Thankfully, Miss Snow Black maintained her prim partially aloof composure as expected of a middle school girl from an upperclass family.
The first episode had good sound design. During the second level virtual world sequences the sound designer used of strings effectively and allowed their harmonics to fade out gracefully as each sampled string was "plucked". This added ambience that was very reminiscent of the .hack series. So, in a way, I felt that Accel World was able to maintain its originality while taking advantage of the audience's memory of .hack to reinforce the virtual experience. It's probably all for the better that it builds upon, rather than tries to oppose .hack since the audience must accept the virtual world right away or else the episode cliffhanger will be wasted. I felt convinced that Accel World's implementation of a virtual society on top of the real world was reasonable and do-able, if not perhaps very scary too in terms of what the government can load and run in your local virtual network. The AW virtual world apparently allows the gov't to have unparalled access to each neural stratum and virtual machine without hardware permission allowed to prevent it; the allegory to that was demonstrated in the anime episodes.
The first episode must have been rushed or low on budget since there were multiple locations where perspective drawing or continuity errors occurred. For example, a swinging door that was not there in the real world suddenly appears and swing shut. But even if the door was allowed to be there, it could not have been movable due to a fixed unmovable object in its swing path. In another scene, the drawn interior area was far larger than the view of the location from the exterior. Oops. That error was even heightened by later having two characters stand outside and next to the enclosed area to further review the errors in both perspective and sizing of real objects. These were items in the real world and not the second level of the brain burst virtual world. A third example occurred when the animators evidently took a shortcut and simply redrew the keyframe drawing instead of animating around it as with other keyframe drawings. Well, I can't blame them as that was a good pose for Miss Snow Black, but the loss of animation dimensionality was quite apparent with that shortcut.
One amusing part of Accel World was how much the main char reminded me of Shuu from Guilty Crown.... So, I am expecting a lot of "Hare" type characterization out of Chiyuri. The butt Yuki of Guilty Crown would do well in Accel World too; she'd have a great time!

Chiyuri is no where close to Hare in resemblance...

Re: Accel World
Accel World is pretty and good, since it's faithful to the LN and it has impressive animation.
Tomorrow, I'll watch the third episode and give my review.
But, please, don't ever mention "GC" here: the expectations for AW are high, but the disappointement could be important.

Re: Accel World
Guilty Crown only had the animation. The music wasn't even that good or varied
