Hello, I just finished watching the two anime season adaptations for Toaru Majutsu no Index. Next, I decided to maybe pick up the light novel. To my greatest surprise, the anime adaptation seemed to be very fast paced? In around 48 episodes, they would have gotten to the 14th volume?
So, I thought: maybe I'm missing out on a lot of important information from the light novels? I'm used to seeing around 13 episodes/adaptation being 2 volumes.
Should I start from volume 14? Or should I start over from volume 1 as I'm missing a lot of information or for whatever reason?
Thanks a lot!

From what I've seen, there seems to be a gap between season one and two. Overall, it's entirely up to you. To answer your question: I wouldn't necessarily say volume one. The second season felt really jumpy. It changed scenes pretty fast, which gave it no sense of connectivity to me. I would probably skim the volumes until I would find something that I didn't watch up to volume 14.
Sorry I've been out >_<

So far, all the volumes have been adapted, some censored heavily because of the violence and madness (in volume 4) in the novels (which won't compare to later volumes) all the way until SS. JC Staff hasn't began on 14 yet, so that's a good place to start.
