I'm not sure if you mistranslated "与えた" as "received".
Rough translation would mean "Future me, that guy surely gave an unexpected blow."
So the actual meaning would be "The future me certainly/surely gave him an unexpected blow." - Sloth

Is it just me or what? I found out that there's a lot of mistranslations. - Sloth

While I'm not an expert in grammar for both languages, I believe that に marks the one who performs the action.

あいつに予測不能の一撃を与えた would translate to "he/she gave an unpredictable blow"

予測不能 - unpredictable

予想外 - unexpected

and in this case は marks the person receiving the action.

Since I've only self taught myself Japanese, there probably are lots of mistakes in there.

(?) marks where I am most unsatisfied with either my Japanese understanding, English translation, or both; Though there are still unmarked places where I deviated somewhat from the original sentence and/or replaced it with my own words.

I would go with "Certainly, I feel that my future self was able to give that guy an unpredictable blow." alternatively "Certainly, I feel that my future self was able to give that guy a hit he was unable to predict." Well there are a couple more ways of writing it as well.

In regards to the one thing that gets mentioned atae(ataeru) ta is generally taken as applied or acted on, so it would be the future self "applying" the blow to that guy or that guy receiving it. How to do that?

KuroiHikari was referring to adding "Mushoku Tensei:" (the project prefix) before the chapters; you would do this in the url in the address bar of your browser when creating the page. I just have problems with editing the chapters in Volume 18 and 19 that you translated. I'm doing my best to grasp the meaning behind the words but some lines appear to be mistranslated.

Since I'm only an editor, I can't guess the contents of the story without proper guidelines. That's why I'm asking you to please re-check the translated chapters and discuss with me on how to edit it without damaging the contents of the story.

at first I'm doing vol 16, 17, and 18 by using google translate by editing it to a readable version. now for vol 19 I'm using google translate and looking at the meaning of each word from the raw then compare the result of my own translation wit GT to assemble the final result. I think I will leave high numbered volume for later and do low volume[below 15] after finished with vol 19 translation.
but, yeah, Please take care of me and a bit of my eccentric habit. for better translation of Mushoku Tensei.

I'm too lazy to change the file name but vol 16 is a huge mess, vol 17 is a bit better, vol 18 it's look okay. vol 19 is incomplete with only few chapter translated using latest method[self trans with GT for comparison]

And in Volume 17 Chapter 1. There's a word "Jintori" there. I can't find it in Google nor any related subjects about it.

And in Volume 19 Chapter 1. There's a word "Ryu Kiyoshi" there. I found the Kanji for it (龍聖) and even Google Translate can't do it. So I just used my inadequate understanding of Japanese and came up with "Drangon's Brilliance". Please re-check

I saw your latest update ( Volume 19 Chapter 6 ) and saw it's really better than the previous chapters that you gave to me.

Editing it was definitely better than editing the previous chapters that you posted here.

I edited half of Volume 19 Chapter 6 for at least 30 minutes. It's definitely faster than editing Volume 17 which took me for at least 8 hours per chapter. And it's accuracy was only at least at 70%. This is far from the required accuracy rate of translation that BT posted.

So I was saying, could you give me a copy of a chapter that you worked on like what you did with Volume 19 Chapter 6?

I want to start over my editing since I changed various lines in those chapters that you gave me which I pretty much changed the original content.

It's okay. We editors should partner up with translators since translating novels were basically a two-man team. Just like Team Tensaizz.

I'll make final edits on Volume 19 Chapter 6 in the mean time.

As for the edited version of Volume 17, actually some problems arose which was the corruption of my data due to some unforeseen circumstances and unfortunately, Volume 17 was one of them.

I'll do a re-edit of Volume 17 which will take a meantime since I have an up-coming finals that's foreboding.

Anyway, I wish that we'll have fast updates now since we have all adapted to this work.
