May I know what font did you use for Haganai volume 1 colored illustration?
Alsso, is there any way to sharpen a resized LQ picture? If not, that what method do you use for replacing the jap text to english ones? Castor212 (talk) 06:45, 27 November 2013 (CST)

One, i wasn't the one that typesetted the text for haganai, i take it was Omb according to what i see by uploads, so i'm not sure what fonts did he use. Second, it depends on the picture, question is too vague, is the picture blurry? Or maybe it's lots of noise? If its blurry, you can't sharpen it. You have to redraw it via pen/brush and hours of work. If it's just noisy, probably blurring out, denoise tools, softbrushes and manual redrawing by hand. Three for the method i use to replace text, when i have actually time to do such a thing, i redraw everything by hand, just by using brush tool, either pentablet or mouse works here, though i recommend using a pentablet myself. --Krytyk (talk) 12:49, 27 November 2013 (CST)

Well that's whole another matter, smudge tool is unusable, blur tool is usable, but you need to know when, and in what situation - you can't ever "accidentally" use blur on lines, means you have to use small brush blur, also it takes time, blur filter, gausian blur filter and topaz - a photoshop addon work as well, but like with everything, you need to know how to use it. Random of tools like blur, or filters will damage the art instead.
I just thought it might be nice for you to mention something about his first name as it is written in kanji here, while it is usually written in katakana.

Japanese first names are often commonly written in katakana for men, and hiragana for women, depending on complexity of kanji originally used in their names . But on formal documents they're always written with proper kanji. That's the principle behind it. Takeru there is very formal, stating the name of his style, his rank, and full name. There's nothing special about his name as it is written in kanji. The only thing I can do while maintaining accurate translations is to emphasize the formal tone. Though, I might include it in project guidelines or character section I will make in future. --Krytyk (talk) 22:44, 27 December 2013 (CST)
:It's German. German's "w" is not read like English's "w" as a half-vowel /w/, but as a full consonant. From what I know, the assigned katakana to German's "w" (except for german words brought via English) are those of the "b" column (at least, in spanish, "w" from german loanwords are read as "b" while those from english loanwords, with some exceptions, are read as "u" from the start of a diphthong, which is close to english "w"). I know I don't have to suggest myself with manga translations, but when I checked in order to give a reasoned tip to them out of goodwill I found that my chosen transcription only exists as the english transcription of a name place in a Final Fantasy game (and I seriously doubt the skills of the game translators at adapting names for that specific series), while the german version of their choice (they still have it wrong), that is also a valid transcription, makes much more sense. --Kemm (talk) 16:48, 20 January 2014 (CST)
Yup, Lindwurm is not incorrect, nor is Lindburn, Lindburm or even Lindbloom, translators pretty much have lots of flexibility to use them, generally if a language or a setting is not specified it's a rule to translate it the way it's spoken - that's why i suggested Lindblum as most accurate, but as you said the translations like Lindvurm are not incorrect. Well, Krytyk, obviously you don't want your text to be read by anyone who is remotely english. Your grammar needs work, your terms need hyphenation (i.e. antimagic is not a word) and furthermore, your run-on conversational text blocks can get confusing for someone not doing a hard reading of your text. Do you want people to understand what you are trying to say in the text or are you just making this for your own convenience and you don't care about who reads it? Ultimately, anything I edit is for the readers' and you are not your editor, from the front page. Before you delete stuff, check with your own damn editor. Furthermore, baka-tsuki is about free changes to make things better...you just quashed all of your readers' free will on this project.
Question
I don't know where you got the thought that Noue means 'none' in British, because no such word exists. If anything, it'd have to be based off of Latin. And I'm not exactly versed with Latin roots. But considering the original language of the novel, I doubt they would go through the extra added effort of creating names with meaning, especially since the novel takes place in a fantasy setting that places little emphasis on the importance in the meaning of names. So most names are just approximations of sound. However, I did talk to Dohma about the specific romanization of this name. He proposed "Nowe" in place of "Noue", because there existed a english translation of a game...Drakengard 2 I believe, that chose to spell it as such. But I ultimately went with Noue for better matching with first/last names; both seem uncommon for names to me, so now it's just a matter of nitpicking. --Detalz (talk) 00:06, 31 January 2014 (CST)
Your translator for this project took it upon himself to undo changes I had made to the text that made it better. I would like to inform you of this fact because I believe that once a work is translated it is out of the hands of the translator. Half the time, the translator feels that a certain style is necessary, but however, half of the time the style that they insist upon takes away from the readability and flow of the text. Instead of trying to work through the changes I made, your translator decided to undo them all, wiping away the 1.5 hours I spent trying to make your project better through grammar changes, speech inflections and the like. Baka-tsuki is about freedom to change text or we wouldn't be on this site editing. Maybe he needs to be remindd of this.
It would be nice if you informed me or the current main TL zzhk with regards to such massive edits(I haven't seen them). While I would like a more English styled writing, I'm quite critical about accuracy. Which means the edits have to be TL-checked before such changes are allowed. --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 01:42, 30 July 2013 (CDT)
Hello, I saw your edit in LH project. I think you do a good work, however, you changed too much meaning in the words and added some sentence that didn't exist in the raw. While I think your edit is good, I prefer to preserve as much as possible at the original style of the raw material as well as author style of writing.

You're welcomed to edit, but please don't change too much the meaning and style on the source material in your edit. This whole thing could have been avoided if you consulted him on changes particularly terminology beforehand. Why did you even confronted him the way you did? Given that he spent hours on the work, wouldn't it be common courtesy to give him a heads up? Either way, talk this out with him without being rude about it. It is normal for the main TL to be in charge, defining the style, guidelines as well as terminology. --KuroiHikari (Talk | ) 01:16, 31 January 2014 (CST)
I would like to see Asobi ni iku yo being translated seriously, because i liked the anime and was looking forward to see what happens next but the only continuation is the light novel and there's only a teaser on Baka-Tsuki.
Illustration editing

Schedule
You know, I think I just tried to climb mount everest, there is no way that I can finish one chapter a week maybe one part is better. There is significant errors within the text; I even have a hand cramp trying to fix them. I understand how most of errors occurred but its going to take me a lot more time than I expected. I have already put in more time than I have done for both of my own translation into half of this edit. I want people to enjoy your awesome translations so I going to optimal job on repairs to the text. Though I doubt you are still making the mistake, I have to ask you that you make sure ever sentence has a noun and verb. I had fix so many sentences that only had a noun or a verb. For example "my, my. John what have you done" the correct way to say this is "My, my, John what have you done" Most of these mistakes could be fixed by a comma but it still takes time to find them, edit them, save them, fix. Also I am afraid that I haven't found them all but I hope so and of course I tried so hard to find them.

I want to make a special note to say that you are amazing. I know that you translating from your third language. Also, you are translating at such a high speed. I will always appreciate your work. Your translations are awesome even with out me. In fact, most other translations have severe problem occurring. Therefore, I thank you for taking my comments, suggestions, and edits. I am blessed to be your comrade.

So I will switch to a lighter schedule of completing a strict translation check of grammar, and syntax ever week for a least one part of a chapter. Please don't make mistaking, I have completed lighter edits on ever single updated chapter. These lighter edits include spelling checks, conjugations, sentence order, and etc. The light edits are what I believe to be the usual responsibilities of the editor. What I will be doing ever week is TLC under the guidance of my knowledge of translation and my native language.

P.S Thanks for being a great friend.
Is there any possible alternative instead of small fry platoon? Maybe ...second rate platoon or worthless platoon or paltry platoon? I have read a lot of story that are of similar nature and small fry platoon doesn't really seem to fit the tone it my opinion.

I'd like to ask you why are you changing terms in my translation project without consulting it, moreover especially that I made an irc channel for any editor who wants to change something major. Like terms, or adding text that is unneccesary and is not there in original japanese raw.
In my opinion, we need to continue the sentence following a string of ----. When you have those marks in a sentence it means there is a pause (longer then a comma[,] or semi-colon[;]) so the sentence should read as follows:

However — having us do that while understanding what’s go through our mind is what you would call the whisper of a devil. (Volume 1, Chapter 1, Part 1)

You could write this with a comma and it would be grammatically correct but the dash indicates a longer pause then a comma. If it were spoken you would read the sentence like this, giving say three seconds before continuing; However -(1..2..3..)- having us do that while understanding what’s go through our mind is what you would call the whisper of a devil.. The sentence is meant to emphasis the realization of the heaviness of their current predicament. So having a sentence which is ended with a dash should be left without adding punctuation as the following sentence or line is supposed to be a continuation of another sentence. If the subject matter of the second sentence does not pertain to the first, then the dash marks should be eliminated and another form of time emphasis should be established, like breaking it into a separate line or paragraph or adding text which indicates a time break.

Again this is just my opinion, so we should come to a consensus as Editors and Translators. -- JesseAlexander (talk) 22:09, 12 October 2013 (CDT)

I find more that the ----- at the end of characters speaking is more put in to show breaking points or events happening either during or directly after the character has said that line, I don't see a point in continuing the sentence because it has effectively ended. Though I think we're talking about different things here, I'm talking strictly on lines where characters speak, not narration. “Actually, I want you to eat celery and eggplant-------“ Like this from early in chapter 3. The sentence ends with dashes and an event happens directly after it. Gulcasa766 (Gulcasa766) 12 October 2013
Sentence needs Correction
The following sentence is in need of help and clarification: My precious daily life-------- towards my best friend who destroyed everything, in order to slam these black feelings at him.

Grammatically it makes absolutely no sense and unless the subject and purpose are explained to me, then I cannot fix it. What does his precious life refer to? Does this mean his past life or does it refer to his new way of life, i.e. training to get power? Does the portion following the dash lines refer the motivation for his hate and rage and how he will get his revenge? How does it relate to the first part of the sentence?

I already tried to pull context from the lines before and after, but it did not help. thanks for the help JesseAlexander (talk) 15:37, 31 December 2013 (CST)

Thanks for translating.--Ugdo (talk) 22:19, 27 December 2013 (CST)

Japanese first names are often commonly written in katakana for men, and hiragana for women, depending on complexity of kanji originally used in their names . But on formal documents they're always written with proper kanji. That's the principle behind it. Takeru there is very formal, stating the name of his style, his rank, and full name. There's nothing special about his name as it is written in kanji. The only thing I can do while maintaining accurate translations is to emphasize the formal tone. Though, I might include it in project guidelines or character section I will make in future. --Krytyk (talk) 22:44, 27 December 2013 (CST)

Illustration editing
