Another book has squeezed its way in since I last typed "The End." Although that line's probably used fairly often :).

Hello, this is Konno.

Well, since the stories published in magazine format hadn't been released as a paperback, I had expected this to come out soon enough (Even so, I still wanted to write, "The End." Call that an author's self-indulgence.) - In other words, this is a collection of "Maria-sama ga Miteru" short stories. Call it Variety Gifts 4, for short. (That's a lie, don't call it that.)

Going through them in the order they were published in Cobalt Magazine, "One Pair" was published in two parts, in the February and April 2008 editions, "Chinami-san and Me" was in September 2008, "Dream of a Butterfly" in January 2009, and "Picking Up a Handkerchief" in May 2009. As for "My Nest" which was published in 2007, it's disposition was a bit different, so it wasn't included in here. "Little Horrors I ~ VI," "Extra: Little Panic" and "An Honest Lie" were all new works.

The binding theme was 'Missing People', no? Or stories where the protagonists don't find common ground, I guess. Depending on how you read it, there's all kinds of interpretations. Right, right, for the stories that the existing characters don't appear in, it's hard to even tell the time period they took place in.

The ribbon section proceeds from the newcomer Nana's perspective. The worldly one who becomes Rosa Foetida en Bouton as soon as she enters school. Similar to Yoshino, who became a petite soeur the same day she entered high-school, although her position was just as Rosa Foetida en Bouton's petite soeur. Her sempai Noriko also became a bouton in her first year, although she received her rosary during the rainy season. Just having Yoshino as her onee-sama would be trouble enough.

While the subtitle includes 'Horror,' just like always it's more of a comedy. The main characters may appear to have grown into sturdy onee-samas, but that's probably just because it's filtered through the eyes of a younger student, since I don't think their true nature has changed that much. Which I think you'll understand when you read the last chapter.

Well then. At the very least, the promised "Change of shape," has started, but where it goes from here I'm still trying to work out.

I think it might turn out to follow the same pattern as this, with short stories easily published in a magazine gathered together.
