			Uhm, i think "that's why i was left" refers to the previous sentence, so it should look like this "...So, we can complete the bridge, and that's the reason why I was left here. In other words—-". Furthemore, i suppose the main point is the fact that ''they'' fulfilled the mission (though they had to sacrifice their lives), and not the fact that ''he'' stayed there to fulfil it.
