ガストレア – Gastrea – A person infected with the Gastrea virus.
ガストレアウイルス – Gastrea virus – The virus that infects a living person, changes the genetic code and transforms him into Gastrea.
エリア – Area – A territory suitable for living, surrounded by Monoliths. After the war with Gastrea, Japan has been divided into 5 Areas: Tokyo Area, Hakata Area etc.
民間警備会社 – Civil Security Company – An organization that hires Initiator-Promoter pairs and exterminates Gastrea within the Area.
民警 – Civil Security – Abbreviation for 民間警備会社.
呪われた子供たち – Cursed Children – Children who became hosts of the Gastrea virus, but at the same time have a gene that can control it.
イニシエーター – Initiator – "Cursed Children", who can effectively fight against Gastrea thanks to the Gastrea virus they carry inside their bodies.
プロモーター – Promoter – A member of "Civil Security" who fights in pair with Initiator.
バラニウム – Varanium – The metal that impedes Gastrea's regeneration.
モノリス – Monolith – These are huge rocks made of Varanium, that are installed at regular intervals along the Area perimeter.
IP序列 – IP Rank – Abbreviation for "Initiator-Promoter Rank".
