Track 1 - Project B[edit]

Yuuri (introduction): Monthly Asuka and comics, Special Drama CD, "Kyou Kara Ma no tsuku Juugyou", Project B.

FX: *tavern noises, steps going upstairs*

FX: *knock on the door*

Josak: Hm? Come in!

FX: *door opens*

Yuuri: Sup' Josak. Heh... I came here...

Josak*surprised*: Eh? Your Majes... I mean...young master ? Why are you here?

Yuuri: *sighs* I finally got here... On the way I was cat called so many times... by sexy ladies and macho men.

Josak: S'that so? This place is located right in the middle of the pleasure quarters (red zone), and on top of that the venue is full! It is neither the time or place for a cute kid like the young master to walk around.

Yuuri: I'm not sure about the cute part, but anyway I think this is too lively for a healthy baseball kid.

Josak:*sighs* So, why are you here?

Yuuri: It's just that... after looking around in the Blood Pledge Castle, I asked around where you could be and I was told you might be at the Shinou's Mausoleum, but when I went there you were nowhere to be found. And as I was thinking "What a problem!", I was told to come to the second floor of this bar.

Josak: Who told you such a ... Ah! It was His Highness, wasn't it?

Yuuri: Yep.

Josak: *sighs* But anyway, you shouldn't have come to this place all by yourself. It's damn dangerous!

Yuuri: It's not that dangerous. But the image of this bar is pretty amazing. If I had such a noisy venue beneath my feet, I wouldn't be able to sleep.

Josak: I can sleep anywhere. Speaking of which, the pleasure quarters are not a place to sleep quietly. So, let me ask you young master... What did you come here for? Don't tell me you secretly came here to fool around with me...?

Yuuri: No, uhm... well I did come here secretly...

Josak: Oh, but you should be leaving now... That's because pretty fellows and girls come to this bar to sing, dance and drink alcohol and I don't want a healthy young boy coming in here with unhealthy requests to get rid of his unhappiness.

Yuuri: No, no, no, no.. you're wrong. It's not like that. Today I came here to see if I could have a conversation with you.

Josak: Eh? With me? Nyan! I'm so happy about this! Since I've become employed by his Excellency Gwendal , he has never let me meet with Your Majesty!

Yuuri: No, it's not like I want to play catch ball or do free practice or anything.

Josak: *holds back laughter* Young master, you're cute when you're so naive.

Yuuri: Naive? Eh? Ah, but of course I would scout Gurrier-chan for my grass-lot baseball team, in a second because of your excellent upper arms.

Josak: Hehehe. I'm honored you'd entrust me with such a task. But let's stop messing around. What do you want to talk about?

Yuuri: Ah, well you see... this is...

Josak: But before that! You're just pointlessly standing there, please sit down. And uncover your head, because the fabric of that hat is too warm. During this season, if you wear something like that it will get stuffy under it.

Yuuri: *sighs* Since I came here secretly, I thought it would be best to hide my dark hair. But if you insist...*takes it off* Wah! It was hot. It's really summer already.*sits down*

Josak: This year is particularly warm here in Shin Makoku. I wonder if the abnormal weather is due to the volcanic activity we had in Van dar Via?

Yuuri: On Earth they say the same thing. [1]

Josak: Anyway, young master, I'm sorry but it's okay if we talk while I change, right?

Yuuri: Yes, go ahead, go ahead... eh!? Change? Uwa! What is that high slit sexy dress?!

Josak: Ain't it nice? It was custom made!

Yuuri: Custom... made...

Josak: *uh-huh* The truth is that I have a second job as a popular singing diva in this bar.

Yuuri: Is that so?

Josak: Ye~es! That's the only reason why I get this big room...

Yuuri: Now that you mention is... the work that you do for Gwendal is also kind of a temp job.

Josak: Well, all sorts of people gather in this bar. When you have a job like mine, that's convenient. But anyway, it seems like being a diva is really my calling!

Yuuri: Ah... I see. But since you're in the capital, can't you just ask to use the Shinou's Mausoleum? You don't have to pay per night and they did say it was okay, right?

Josak: I do go and visit them as Priestess-Josak sometimes, you know?

Yuuri: Eh? You mean cosplayed as priestesses?

Josak: Yes, and it's really effective. The truth is that men are forbidden there, and even though Gurrier has the heart of a maiden, I'll get a bad reputation, don't you think.

Yuuri: *whispers to himself* I don't think there's a big difference between that and crossdressing to work at this bar .

Josak: But honestly, I'd rather not get close to places like the Shinou's Mausoleum. Everyone lives like saints and sages, always working hard. Of course, if His Highness or the Main Priestess call me. I'll go and visit them.

Yuuri: I've heard about it, and it seems like they really keep you busy.

Josak: Yes, Ulrike-sama asks me to go to the main street and buy some books on sale. To help this elderly woman, I'm there lining up before the store opens.

Yuuri: Woah.. it seems like they use you a lot for their convenience.

Josak: It's okay. If the nobles are using me for such small things, it's a proof that there is peace in this country.

Yuuri: Proof of peace?

Josak: That's right. If these were times of war I'd be a soldier. Being a soldier is quite severe, and honestly I wouldn't want to be one again, but if that was my mission, I wouldn't be able to do anything but go. Yet, to be honest, I'd gladly follow the orders of Your Majesty, His Highness and my commander, even if it meant that I'd be killed.

Yuuri: I will never give such an order.

Josak: Your Majesty... I know that already.

Yuuri: I don't ever want to order anyone to die in a fight.

Josak: I know... The best strategy is for people to talk to one another to reach an understanding, right?

Yuuri: *pouting* That's right. What's with that face?

Josak: Eh?

Yuuri: You want to say that I'm too naive, right? Being a veteran and an intelligence operative you must be thinking "What stupid things are you saying!?"

Josak: No, I love the "green" things that the young master says.

Yuuri: I knew it, you're just making fun of me.

Josak: No, I'm not. I entrust my life to you, because I trust you. That's the truth.

Yuuri: Hm...*agrees*

Josak: Well we really got off the subject, so anyway, what did you come here to discuss?

Yuuri: Ah, that's right. Actually, it's about Conrad.

Josak: About the commander?

Yuuri: Hm... So, you and Conrad have been close friends since childhood, right?

Josak: Close friends, huh? I guess so... We've been inseparable since we were kids.

Yuuri: Ah, okay. Then... since you've known each other for such a long time, you must know.

Josak: What?

Yuuri: Conrad's birthday.

Josak: Birthday?

Yuuri: Yeah, because Conrad wouldn't tell me...

Josak: Uhm.. birthday, huh? And why do you want to know all of a sudden?

Yuuri: It's not all of a sudden. It's just that right now, everyone in the castle is getting ready to celebrate my birthday.

Josak: Ah! That big preparation to receive the day of His Majesty's Regal Birth? [2] This year too, it has been turned into a national holiday for the citizens. For example, his Excellency Günter has ordered to make everything sparkle in the castle and has everyone running around. Even I know the date! On Earth, His Majesty's birthday is on the 29th of July.

Yuuri: Yeah, that's right. And last time, Conrad gave me a huge baseball field as a present.

Josak: Ah, so that's what that was about. But, because Your Majesty has let us know about that kind of game, everyone can use it right?

Yuuri: That's true but since he was my first baseball-pal from the very moment I got to this world, for him to give me something like this, made me very happy. That's why this year, I felt like getting Conrad something too.

Josak: Really, commander. You were the first in line in Shin Makoku to "give it" to His Majesty.

Yuuri: Give me what?[3]

Josak: Ah, don't mind me, I'm just talking to myself. So what does that have to do with Lord Weller's birthday?

Yuuri: What, you ask? Since it was something he got me for my birthday, I should give him something back for his birthday.

Josak: Ehh... So that's how it works on Earth.

Yuuri: Eh! Is it different here?

Josak: No, in countries where humans live birthdays are quite popular, but... for the mazoku, you know? Since it takes them so long to grow up, after a year, they don't really change that much.

Yuuri: Ah! I see... If I think about it Wolfram for example, it took him over 80 Happy Birthdays to look like that. That would be like celebrating a birthday every 2 or 3 months, for someone who lives on Earth. Indeed, that would be kind of annoying!

Josak: That's why there are a lot of people who don't even remember their birthdays, and by the way that includes me too.

Yuuri: Eh, Josak? You don't know your own birthday?

Josak: Well, my mother was a sloppy woman. Well, on human territory, if a child took a long time to grow up, that meant they had mazoku blood in their veins, and they were discriminated. Because of that, even if people knew their birthdays they did not celebrate them on purpose.

Yuuri: Ah, that's what it was. I'm sorry.

Josak: No, you don't need to apologize for that.

Yuuri: Yeah, I know but. Ah, but it that's the case, maybe that's why Conrad couldn't tell me. There might be a chance that he doesn't know his birthday either, right?

Josak: Well, in the case of the commander, being the son of the Maou at the time, I don't think there's a chance of him not knowing. Yey! It fits perfectly! U..fufu...! What do you think young master? Look , look~! What do you think of my underwear?

Yuuri: Ah... Gurrier-chan.... Please don't bring that underwear so full that's about to explode, that close to my face.

Josak: Ah, if I'm wearing this, I feel awesome!

Yuuri: Ah! Please stop! You're making me feel like I have to put some money in there. So, please stop the "attack-mode"!

FX: *door opens*

Josak: Oh?

Conrad: I.....found....you!

Yuuri: C...C.... Conrad!

Conrad: Josa! What are you doing?!

Josak: What, you ask? I'm changing?

Conrad: Your Majesty, are you unharmed?

Yuuri: Ah, yes, I'm fine.

Conrad:*sighs in relief* Thank goodness. Even though I won't tell you not to come to the town that surrounds the castle, you need to tell me or Wolfram where you're going, especially at night.

Yuuri: Hm... sorry.

Conrad: Really... until the town drunk saif he had seen you, I had no idea what to do.

Josak: You're being overprotective, overprotective. Way too much.

Conrad: Did you say something?

Josak: No~! I didn't say anything~!

Conrad: Josak, please, how about you take off that taxi-stopping skirt?

Josak: No, I just put it on!

Conrad: You're making His Majesty put on a disgusted face, change those ugly clothes.

Josak: Ugly clothes! Mean~! You hurt Gurrier!

Yuuri: No, I personally don't think that it's ugly...

Conrad: You don't need to say anything else.

Yuuri: Ah.. sorry.

Conrad:*clears throat* Anyway, you need to explain to me what's going on, Your Majesty.

Yuuri: Well..

Conrad: Of all things, why did you come to this indecent place?

Josak: Indecent...! This is the bar where I help around.

Conrad: So, that's why you're wearing female clothing...

Josak: Yes...

Conrad: That's why I said it's indecent.

Josak: Eh! How rude~!

Conrad: Your Majesty, don't tell me that this person asked you to come here?

Josak: Actually, yes, that's what happened. The doting parents always escorting him everywhere, the fiancé with whom he fights all the time and the guy who always has nosebleeds and only cares about his education, are just too strict and he kept crying "I don't want to be there", so I had to comfort him.

Conrad: Josa, you bastard!

Yuuri: No, no. I was the one who wanted to see him.

Conrad: Really?

Yuuri: Yeah, really.

Josak: The young master wanted to know your birthday.

Yuuri: Wah! Shhhh!

Conrad: My birthday?

Yuuri: Agh... yeah, that's right. Since you wouldn't tell me, I thought that your childhood friend Josak might know.

Josak: And even though he came all the way here, I don't know your birthday either.

Conrad: Your Majesty, why?

Yuuri: Wait! Before that... right now we're in private.

Conrad: Well, I'm not on duty.

Yuuri: I'm sorry I left the castle without saying anything but, I sometimes want to sneak out on my own. The thing is that all this time you've been calling me Your Majesty, Your Majesty...

Conrad: Ah, I'm sorry, Yuuri.

Yuuri: Better...

Conrad: But, I can't tell you my birthday.

Yuuri: Why?

Josak: Could it be that just like me, you don't know it?

Conrad: No, I still remember it.

Josak: I guessed that much. You were born right in the middle of Cherie-sama's reign.

Yuuri: Then, why?

Conrad: Well, this is complicated... well, not really. It's because of different issues that have to do with my family ...

Josak: What do you mean?

Conrad: Dare I say it? It's in my mother's will.

Yuuri: But Cherie-sama is alive!

Conrad: Yeah, that's right.

Josak: You're not making yourself clear.

Yuuri: But anyway... you're saying that the day that you were born is a secret?

Conrad: Yes, that's right.

Josak: What a shame, right, young master?

Yuuri: Yes...

Josak: Well, it seems that it's about time that I start my job... after all, during the night I too need a place to sleep, right?

Conrad: Don't get too rowdy, Josak. If you're too noisy down there, I'll tell Gwendal about it.

Josak: I know that. Don't look down on me. If I go too crazy, I will be sent back to the Voltaire territory.

Yuuri: You cause troubles to Gwen as well, huh?

Conrad: Indeed. Well, Yuuri, we need to go back to the castle. If the Maou is missing, Günter will go crazy.

Yuuri: Yeah, we don't want that.

Conrad: In the past, a spy that went back to the castle was called an oshinobi.

Yuuri: No it wasn't...

Josak: Ah! But if there were honey roasted plums, the spies couldn't get in.

Yuuri: What's that? I've never heard of that.

Conrad: That's tasty, isn't it? Honey roasted plums. I'll ask Effe who works in the kitchen, to make some.

Yuuri: Ah, the chef girl? She's pretty cute, isn't she?

Conrad: Oh! You like that girl? Then I'll introduce you to her. Of course, we'll keep it a secret from Wolfram.

Yuuri: Eh?! No, no. That type of introduction is too much. And besides, that girl probably likes you, do you think?

Conrad: Eh?! Is that so? I have never felt that though. Could it be that I just couldn't tell?

Josak: Effe-chan's orientation is kind of unique.

Conrad: And how do you know so many details about her?

Josak: Huhu. You need a thief to catch a thief! Gossips fly among women.

Conrad: That's kind of a waste of your gathering information abilities.

Josak: How disagreeable you are...

Yuuri: Ah! In the end I couldn't find out Conrad's birthday.

Conrad:*laughs* Even if you knew it, it wouldn't be useful to you.

Yuuri: *angry* For me, it would have been useful information.

Conrad: Uhm... ah! By the way, Your Majesty's birthday is coming up, right?

Yuuri: That's right. That's why this year I also wanted to celebrate your birthday too.

Conrad: Just by knowing that you feel like that, I'm more than happy.

Yuuri: *pouting* Just like I thought.*normal* But you know for people on Earth , birthdays are the best of "special occasions". That's why I wanted to know the birthday of the person who named me[4].

Josak: Well, but it's fine. For this person, the young master's birthday is much more important to him than his own. Right, commander?

Conrad: Ah! Of course.

Yuuri: If you make such an honest face saying that, it's kind of embarrassing.

Conrad: But, it's an honest feeling. Your birthday is for me, the most special occasion.

Yuuri: Conrad...

Josak: Fu.. it's warm in here. Ahh! I had a brilliant idea!

Yuuri: Ah! You scared me.

Conrad: What's with you all of a sudden...

Josak: What do you think about this...

Yuuri: What is it?

Josak: Why not make His Majesty's... uhm .. the young master's birthday, the commander's birthday as well?

Conrad: Huh? You... No matter how you look at that, it's too arrogant...

Josak: No way. The day when the young master was born, is the day that you were born as the father who named him(nadzukeoya). And since that's the day you became a nadzukeoya, it should be your birthday too. Well, there you have it. A solution to this matter.

Yuuri: I see! That's pretty neat!

Josak: Isn't it?! Isn't it?!

Yuuri: Alright! Then this year, my birthday will also be Conrad's nadzukeoya's anniversary![5]

Cornad: Are you serious?

Yuuri: What is it? You don't like it?

Conrad: No, it's not like that...

Yuuri: Great then!

Josak: Wah... Commander, I'm jealous!

Conrad: Look you little... Ah.. it's nothing... I'm honored, Yuuri.

Yuuri: You're welcome.

Conrad: With this, I'll be twice as grateful to celebrate the day you were born. Yuuri is my raison d'etre after all. Please, always be well.

Yuuri:*laughs* What's with you? You're really acting like an old man.

Conrad: *laughs* I mean, please always smile.

Yuuri: I see... As long as Conrad is always by my side, and always comes to my rescue, I think I'll keep being a smiling king.

Conrad: So, I will.

Yuuri: Ah! Josak too!

Josak: *dissapointed*... I feel like I was completly left out ...

Yuuri: No way... I rely on you, my all-purpose spy.

Josak: Yes, yes. May you live many years~!

Conrad: Well, Yuuri. This time we really need to go.

Yuuri: Oh, damn it. *stands up* Josak, sorry for interrupting you at work.

Josak: No, not at all!

Conrad: Let's go. *they leave*

FX: *Night time*

Josak: We really talked a lot. Whenever the commander comes, the northern wind blows and it gets really cold, (It's cold= Conrad tells bad jokes) but today he didn't.

Conrad: Northern wind? What do you mean?

Yuuri: Josak! Be quiet! And here I thought we were having a pretty calm night...

Conrad: Ah! Right now...I feel grateful...

Josak: Eh?! WHat is this all of a sudden?!

Conrad: "Because you said this day was good, on the 29th of July it is the Nadzukeoya Anniversary. Hypermetrics. "

Yuuri: Why a poem? On top of that... it's a rip off?[6]

Conrad: Yes.

Josak: That's the lowest of the lowest....

Yuuri: It's summer, it's summer, it's summer ....but it's cold!

FX:*cold wind blows*

  1. Abnormal maybe, warmer, no. Maybe it's different in Shin-Makoku, but on Earth temperatures get cooler due to volcanic activity....Yuuri needs to go back to school ASAP.
  2. CD 32, which features's Yuuri's 17th birthday.
  3. There's a doble entendre here, surely Josak meant nothing but "a gift"... XD
  4. Nadzukeoya: (名付け親) means "father who names a person". Lit: 名: name; 付け: that gave ; 親: parent. Many times the term nadzukeoya is translated as "godfather", but in the west godfather has a different meaning than nadzukeoya in Japanese. This is why I'm keeping nadzukeoya.
  5. He actually says "godfather" in English, but I don't think Japanese people understand that nadzukeoya means something different, so I changed it to nadzukeoya, since that's what he really meant.
  6. The original is:"Kono aji ga ii ne" to kimi ga ittakara, shichi gatsu muika wa sarada kinenbi kara." It's a poem by Machi Tawara found in her book "Salad Anniversary". In English the original means: Because you said" this tastes good", on July 6th that day will be the "Salad Anniversary".
