Who am I?

[English]

I am fluent in English and Spanish, and started studying Japanese in the late 1990s, though not very deeply at that time. Since January 2008 I've been studying Japanese rather obsessively. I discovered Toradora! rather by accident in early 2009, though I didn't find this site until November. The original is almost always better than the derivatives, and it was no surprise that the book was much better than the anime (let alone the incomplete manga!), even in translation.

Anyway, I am polishing my meager skills in reading Japanese helping with Baka-Tsuki. I am currently working on the Japanese to English translation of the book Golden Time 4, and on the manga scanlations of Boku no Marie, Golden Time, Kyoumen no Silhouette, Mill, Nagi no Asu Kara and Undead. I may perhaps return to working on translating Toradora! to Spanish, but not right now. There aren't enough hours in the day to do all the things I want/have to do.

In English, I have hundreds of books, not counting hundreds more already given away to libraries to clear space. Most of the books are science fiction, alternate history, or related to J.R.R. Tolkien. I have copies of The Hobbit in English, Spanish, Polish, Italian and Japanese. The Japanese Hobbit, amazingly enough, describes Dwarves by likening them to Disney's Seven Dwarves...

NOTE on above: Why Kare Kano? I'm not really partial to shoujo, but in late 2002, my daughter dragged me to an anime convention (as driver and chaperone), and we wound up watching episodes 1-5 of the anime to this story. Years later (2009) I bought the whole series on DVD. Unfortunately, the best episodes were the first ones . . .
