Wow, that image is very very close to my mental image of that scene. Even to the line next to Haruhi's mouth. That must mean the author did a very good guy conveying it and you guys did a good job translating it.

Reading the text I thought she wasn't really mad at all, having a smile in your face while pretending to be angry doesn't work at all. You're just really enjoying beating the crap of others. "Or like lovers pretending to have a fight just to fall in each others arms apologizing"

Now looking at the pic, you see she's looking like someone who's angry, but in disbelief of what happened. Haruhi's brain is running at thousands of km/h trying to figure what happened in first place, but no conclusion is being made.
While reason is out of the house, her instincts are taking the control.

The original text did mention her smile being very stiff, as if she didn't know how to react to such a situation. Maybe she never felt "threatened" by the possibility that Kyon could be attracted to Yuki before. Mikuru she could still manage to handle, but Yuki's a different story, since she's always low profile.

As this story takes place just days after Vol 4 and days before Snow Mountain, eventually, in Snow Mountain, Haruhi decides to confront Kyon about him paying more and more attention to Yuki lately, forcing Kyon to come up with a cover story which isn't too far from the truth.

Still, Haruhi looking this jealous is just so cute.

I'm surprised Haruhi would be so quick to call for his resignation. I was expecting her to be angry, but nothing beyond some unknown "Punishment" like in the final story of Vol. 6.
