Turning the Calenders from Green to Red

Turning the calenders from Green to Red
This is an expression I encountered in Wandering Shadow. It means to be absent without reason. This comes from the traditional Chinese calender (the types that you tear off a page everyday), as a green day/date detones a working day while a red day/date means a Holiday/weekend.

Now while I have n problems with this, I'm wondering if its in the original Japanese text. Since I'm translating from a chinese fan source, it does make me wonder if its in the original japanese text / the official Kadokawa text.

Can someone please clarify?

I'll take a look at it during lunch at work... gimme a few hours.

Edit: It was right near the top of the new addition, so it wasn't hard to find :P

The original text is as follows:
Original Japanese wrote:あたしだってSOS団の活動がなければ、もう学校に用はないからね。でも、あの真面目《まじめ》そうな阪中が平日を勝手にカレンダーの赤い日にするわけはないわ」
It mentions calender (にカレンダ) and red day (赤い日) but no mention of green that I can see.

Alright then, I'll edit out the green part then. Thanks a lot Smidge ;P

smidge I need your help on something. Could you please email/upload the raw text of wandering shadow to me? I'm having difficulties translating one of the technical terms there...

EDIT: Found it. Why do I ALWAYS run into stupid entities in my translations -.-

「情報生命素子」 - I translated it as 'Data Lifeforms'

「珪素《けいそ》構造生命体共生型情報生命素子」 - 'Paragenetic Silicon-based data lifeforms'

What do you think?

Moo.

EDIT: Ok, need help here again. It seems that EVERY single chinese RAW on the Internet missed out this particular sentence:
「あんたが来る前に古泉くんに聞いたわ」 ハルヒは人数分の切符《きっぷ》をまとめて買いながら、「有希が民間治療を試してくれるんですって? 陽猫病の」
I know ZERO Japanese, so some help would be greatly appreciated.

「あんたが来る前に古泉くんに聞いたわ」

"(あんた)Anta (が)ga (来る)kitaru (前に)maeni (古泉くん)koizumi-kun (に)ni (聞いたわ)kikoitawa"

Over IRC, HolyCow and I agree this translates to "I heard about everything from Koizumi-kun before you came,"

ハルヒは人数分の切符をまとめて買いなが

(ハルヒ)Haruhi (は)wa (人数)ninzuu (分の)bunno (切符)kippu (を)o (まとめて買い) matonutsugai (ながら)nagara

Again, HC came up with "Haruhi said as she purchased our train tickets" but I'd think "Haruhi purchased tickets for everyone" is a more strict translation.

「有希が民間治療を試してくれるんですって? 陽猫病の」

"(有希)Yuki (が)ga (民間)minkan (治療)saryou (を)o (試し)tameshi (てくれるんですって)tekurerundesutte? (陽)you (猫)neko (病)yamai (の)no"

That "tekurerundesutte" is killing me. I just can't parse it :(

Best guess is something like: "Does Yuki know a folk remedy for an apparent cat illness"

=Smidge=
/Seriosuly doesn't know Japanese.
//This is torture.
///Fun torture, though.

Wandering Shadow finally completed. Now with this done I'm going to take a long long break from translating until we decide what our next project is going to be (and no, it's not BOMF. It's licensed T.T).

Now if you excuse me, I have 2 weeks worth of Kanon to catch up with ;P

Is it really? It says "to be continued" ^_^ And there's no images too, btw.
Anyway, thanks for the hard work :)

The very ending was sort of... creepy. Now I have a bad feeling about what would happen in the next volume :( Last time I had this kind of feeling when I saw a picture of smiling Nagato in Disappearance. Well, the smile itself wasn't a bad thing at all, it's just that the fact of Yuki showing emotions tells right away that there's something wrong with the world 8-\

I can't believe I forgot to remove that stupid ~To Be Continued~ text

Anyways, you'll have to wait until Smidge or velocity7 upload the images. I might upload 'em if I feel like it, but I'm a really lazy guy ;P

And yes I do agree that the end to Shadow is kinda creepy. It's almost like it's predicting something like Notradamus >.<

P/S: That Notradamus bloke was born on the same day I was -.-

(試して)tameshite (くれる) kureru
-te form of tamesu (to test/try) kureru (to give)
From what I know, this verb combination is used for addressing subordinates.

I'm going to assume it means something like "yuki said to try a folk remedy? a cat-illness-type...

Yea, the issue has already been resolved. Thanks anyway ;P
