Wow Enigma when you said you would have the next volume out I was thinking it would only be 1 of them. I was not expecting you to unload all of them. Gotta say thanks for all the hard work and for surprising the heck out of me with the massive update.

Really an early Christmas Present, thanks for all your effort in releasing three volume in one go.EnigmaticAxiom wrote:I'll call it an early Christmas Present.
Now I'm gonna re-read everything again, I really love this series.

I noticed that the sentences are kind of cut without more details in machine translations. Is it because parts of the sentences gave bad results?

It's possible, but I would put that more on my own ability to write than the machine. The author's writing tends to put things in very short sentences which end up being sentence fragments when changed to English (English requires a more explicit subject and action, while I believe Japanese can be a bit more implied). I did as raw a conversion as I could and then changed it as best I could at that time. If there were too many fragments, I combined them, while other times I left them as is because I thought it was a more dramatic scene where it was warranted. I'm sure there are bits where I just couldn't think of anything, moved on with the intent to return, and then forgot, as well.

OK. BTW, I'm trying to proofread from Chinese, but the latter contains errors as well. So if you see a part that is clearly wrong, revert it back.EnigmaticAxiom wrote:It's possible, but I would put that more on my own ability to write than the machine. Re: Madan no Ou to Vanadis (Machine Translation) ~Preview~
Just finished reading.
A couple notes
In volume 2, I noticed a Vandis is referred as a "he" which made no sense.
It seem all kind of drinks are being marked down as alcohol, while not necessarily wrong, the author probably intended as wine or ale or such. Would it be considered disruptive if we change the translation?
Also on that matter, Regin vs Regina. The latter is usually a girl's name, and the former for a boy. Perhaps we should change it to reflect it that way? Again, it is just nitpicking.
Otherwise, spectacular job!

I wasn't sure what to do with the alcohol. It escapes me at the moment, but from what I can remember, it says sake, which technically is a beer, but there were some that seemed like they would be more akin to wine than beer, so I probably left most of those simply as alcohol. I can't remember, though.
As for the name, it is レギン as opposed to レギナ, so I kept it as Regin rather than Regina. I don't mind either way, honestly speaking, but I do get Regin/Regihn from http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%83%AC% ... E%E3%83%B3, so I d'no. I'll probably end up keeping Regin if/when I edit it myself, but that's mostly 'cause I'm used to it that way. For some reason, Regina makes me think of some overwheight black lady (though I mean no offense )

Huh? Isnt sake just sake and not beer - isnt beer something different?
Did a Picture search for Regina in google - no black lady on the first page...
http://www.google.com/search?q=regina&h ... 70&bih=761
Btw. Regina is also just another word for Queen besides its function as a name.

Please don't mind my bad english since I'm german.

No, I just don't want it to refer to "alcohol" for all 5 volumes, since at least in America, we don't refer our drinks that way. So I figure something like beer, or for a western Europe setting, wine would be the best.
Sake? o_O In Western Europe medieval times? Well, whatever float the author's boat. I mean they already eat rice and seafood~

In modern usage, 酒 (sake) refers to alcohol as well.

If anyone cares... I see 'spirits' used very often in classic fantasy (D&D, Forgotten Realms).
Though people might mind if grammar/vocab get too exotic/hard (given that most readers aren't native speakers)...

Spirit or booze would work nicely. Or just rotate the name periodically.
