Ōkami-san (Ōkami-san to Shichinin no Nakamatachi)

Post by mondy-mond »

Masashi Okita's romantic comedy light novel series.

The story centers around Ryouko Ookami, a high school freshman girl known for her fierce looks, unusual canine teeth when she smiles, and wild demeanor (her family name is homonymous with the Japanese word for "wolf"). Ringo Akai is a short high school freshman girl with seemingly cute, angelic looks but a dark demeanor (her name is a Japanese wordplay on "apple" and "Red Riding Hood"). Together with their odd friends, the two fight to change the world, one issue at a time.

There are 10 volumes out currently and it seems like a very interesting series (I was brought to it's attenion through it's first anime episode) Although I can't translate this at the moment as I am still translating the ToraDora! visual novel I just wanted to throw it out there for anyone who would really enjoy this series

Yes the anime is quite good and unique with odd characters, although people do make resemblances between Ookami Ryoko and Aisaka Taiga but this is probably because their personalities are quite similar (Ookami Ryoko being like a taller version of Aisaka Taiga but with still the flat chest ) It can be quite funny at times aswell especially the elderly voice over during the "fan-service" as she says. I really recommend it!

Ōkami-san (オオカミさん)

The anime of this novel was released not so long ago. It is currently 5 episodes long.

Since I loved the anime so far I thought I would suggest translating the light novel version of it. Baka-tsuki already has many projects going on but I figured you guys may like this novel.

I've been following the anime as well, and if the novels are as good (which they're probably better) then I for one would love to see them translated.

Translations of novels with anime adaptions tend to die after the hype ends.
Hopefully the translator won't decide to disappear within a month.

Let me correct the comment made. There were several mistakes... namely:

1) The readers die off once the hype ends, which is why you don't see us working on every project suggested especially those that are mentioned because of their anime adaptations. Its usually the readers that die off before the translators.
2) There is a severe lack of translators, so we don't take on that many projects. We don't get paid, but in return we work at our own pace, at our own times.
3) You make it sound as though there IS a translator for this series, which I don't think so.

Which is what I meant, I think...

Understandable, but what I was referring to were those who translate one or two chapters then decide to just drop it without a word.
ShadowZeroHeart wrote:3) You make it sound as though there IS a translator for this series, which I don't think so.
What I wished to convey was that if this series ever gets a translator, hopefully the translation would not die off after the hype ends.
To me, it is worse to have a half-complete job than one that was never started.

Well, you said the translation died with the anime adaptation, but translations dying off is only if the translator stops working on it, not because of the lack of readers. Thus that was my reasoning to disagree with your first statement.

Example: I still work on Kaze no Stigma slowly, despite how long it has been since the anime is over. Even if it is not that popular, nor getting many readers, I still wanna work on that.

And regarding your other two comments, i quite agree, though i won't complain even if they give up half-way... Translating hundreds of pages of novels, and that is per volume... its hard work, and tedious and requires a lot of patience. So it is good if they work on it. Most people underestimate the job, thus the dropping it in one or two chapters. Its a process people have to go through to see if they can handle the job, so... Good luck? haha
