Re: New Baka-Tsuki Android App: Development
Okay, seemed like I got a weird bug when I tried to replace the old app with the test. Basically, it wouldn't install and I was still using the old one. So I had to do a clean install and got it working. The thing is, is that the app isn't working, per se. I can't open any novels. As soon as you do, you get force closed. I can download the novel details but I cannot open them. The download feature is working fine but.... can't open novels which is a fatal flaw.
EDIT: I can open novels where the bitmap is empty. In other words, novels where there is no cover image. I've tried turning off images but that doesn't work. So you can really only read about 1 Novel.
About the wake bug, maybe the phone has to enter deep sleep first?

Weird, since, this test build has higher version number than the first, obviouslly it shouldn't give overwrite install problems.
Me and other 3 testers aren't getting any problems reading novels...i suggest you try to re download the novel details of the problematic novels (in the main list, longPress > "download novel info") and check if you can access them again...
This all sounds to me like internet problem, bitmap comes empty generally because the connection was slow and couldnt fetch the image file before creating the UI.
If redownloading novels doesnt work, then go to Menu > Settings > Clear Database. (will have to redownload everything again)
If still not working, then uninstall the app as you would normally, then go to sdcard/Android/data/ and delete the folder "com.erakk.lnreader".
This will erase all your image files too.
Also, what Device/Android version/ and are you using any custom rom?
In theory, practice and theory are the same.
but, practically, they arent.

Re: New Baka-Tsuki Android App: Development
I've already tried a clean install and deleted all the data.
The novels where it doesn't have a bitmap never had one in the first place so it isn't an internet problem. That being said I've already tried all the methods you suggested but nothing works.
I supppose the only reason left, is that I'm running Android Gingerbread 2.3.6.

Just in case, here's a logcat file.

Have the same problem as Bloodscythe. But I can open some of the novels. Those I cant open dont have their "Last Updated" and "Last Checked" date. Instead its written invalide.
I have the LG E510, better known as Optimus Hub, with Android 2.3.6 rooted.

Hmm, it looks like when you completely delete/rename a volume the old volume is kept around in the database.
The only fix I could find for this was to reset the entire database just to get rid of the old volumes.
This occurred when Kokoro Connect renumbered the volumes to the 1, 2, 3, 4, 4.5, 5, 6, 6.5... format.

Re: New Baka-Tsuki Android App: Development
I found the issue, and i am fixing it at the moment.
Expect a new version soon, but with that fix only.
(soon as in a few hours)
EDIT: well its here. i fixed the probable cause. On 2.3.6 android its not crashing anymore when you enter the novels. (yeah i tested it was before, dunno why i didnt use my parent's android phone for testing xD)
Here is the link (the same as before xD)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/r21v7qm04beat ... tivity.apk
You MIGHT also notice how UGLY is the volume open/closed indicator. It's a place holder, i might change it with something cool or i might return to its default look.
Aside from bugs and etc, some feedback on the UI is also welcome =)

Re: New Baka-Tsuki Android App: Development
Confirmed. The bug has indeed been fixed. *Cheer*
I like the new UI. It feels a lot more "cleaner" compared to the older one.
Instead of, if a chapter hasn't been updated in last 24hrs show "invalid", why not show a date like before? I'd actually like to see the last time a novel was updated instead of "invalid".
Actually, I'm wondering, what sort of features are you planning for the app in the future, if any?
Anyway, keep up the good work!

The invalid is not that a chapter hasnt been updated, its because i made a check in case it would show a negative date...Bloodscythe wrote:Confirmed. The bug has indeed been fixed. *Cheer*

Well, in other words, instead of invalid, it woud should some date in the future... and thats not quite right. But i think that needs more tweaking, i might have missed something.

//FUTURE IDEAS
-Advanced Customization options
-Integration with external cloud apps for image/database saving:
DropBox
Box
Skydrive
Google Drive
Future ideas may or may not happen. i need feeback on this, if you guys think its a cool feature or not that cool.
I would use, id save my database on a dropbos folder, and if you buy a new cellphone, just install your dropbox there and run the app then "load database from dropbox".
Bloodscythe, can you confirm to me that, while reading Dai Densetsu no Yuusha no Densetsu, the options "Next" and "Previous" dont work, as well as "Jump To"? (jump to is also inside the chapters)

About Dai Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu, I have confirmed that NEXT/PREVIOUS and JUMP TO DO NOT work. Using Jump to doesn't even bring up the usual search box.
http://db.tt/kdR1RJXa
Here is a logcat file of me attempting Next/Previous as well as Jump to.

Are you still having the "lock screen" bug?Bloodscythe wrote:About Dai Densetsu no Yusha no Densetsu, I have confirmed that NEXT/PREVIOUS and JUMP TO DO NOT work. Using Jump to doesn't even bring up the usual search box.

I am taking a look but i cant replicate... is it on a specific novel? seeing as DenYuuDen is having dificulties "finding itself"

Re: New Baka-Tsuki Android App: Development
The bug isn't on a specific novel and only appears sometimes. It doesn't happen all the time. Sometimes when I suspend the app and go do something else on the phone it happens as well. But the bug is kind of rare.
About the cloud feature:
I don't actually see much of a point to it.
You either:
1. Connect to cloud and download a backup.
2. Download all the novels again through the app.
The backup and novel will be the same size so download time will be the same. I guess the cloud service just makes things easier? Sign in to cloud and download or navigate to novels and download. But these are just my thoughts on it.

Hey, first thanks to make this great app. I'm just wondering if this app can work properly in a Android Tablet.
I would really appreciate it any of you could answer me.

It most likely will work although there's no confirmation. I don't think its optimized for tablets, if tablets need that. Never hurts or breaks your tablet to try, right?Alex0714 wrote:Hey, first thanks to make this great app. I'm just wondering if this app can work properly in a Android Tablet.

Here is a logcat file of the bug happening, I think.
http://db.tt/0vYMFGnC
You can see I loaded the chapter "Summer Festival".
I did not move from the chapter and I locked the phone.
You can then see that it loads up "Ghost stories" which is the previous chapter.
I then pressed next to go to "Summer Festival". See any problems?

The UI is flexible so Yes. If i am not mistaken, nandaka was testing with a tablet or a big screened device. We want to support all screens (we support landscape view too) so you shouldn't have nay problems.Alex0714 wrote:Hey, first thanks to make this great app. I'm just wondering if this app can work properly in a Android Tablet.

If you do, or you notice anything not right, you just tell me and i'll look into it.
@Bloodscythe
Thanks, i'll take a look =)

Tadaima!
Back from the vacation, a lot of changes here and there I see!
@erakk: the latest code is uploaded to GitHub? Including your test code? or do you create a test branch?
@regarding AsyncTask: I'm using thread pool rather than single thread for the newer android, this should not be problem (?)
I'm using a tablet, but not much differences on UI.
