Kyon's evolution theory~ (could be a spoiler for volume 8)
so in volume 8 kyon thinks of an evolution theory that says that data-lifeforms "attached" to monkeys etc. and that's the reason for the "quick" increase of intelligence...
so what do you people think about that?
what do you think the existence of data-lifeforms that are able to attach to matter
i think it is an interisting point of view...
what if data-lifeforms came to earth and attached to matter and over years reshaped this matter to form a being that suits the envirement...
not knowing that a data-lifeform is the source, that could be an answer to the question "what is the soul" deshou~?
well...i am bad at english and didn't put much thought in it
so i just have written something to start a discussion^^

It's an intriguing theory. It would certainly explain why humans are the special organics who evolved beyond simple sentience and learned process data...maybe the secret to evolution for the data lifeforms was to attach themselves to something "real" and deal with the "mixed-up" data of the senses...maybe that's where Haruhi comes from.
Of course it could easily be a red herring too.

i agree to evolution theory being a plot device.. if anyone 'seeded' life on earth, the IDSE would have known of it.. if so, yuki would have told that to kyon even during mysterique sign.. besides, who else has the ability to 'seed' earth life but the IDSE

I do not know. I think that the whole evolutionary plot as a motive thing is a bit overused, but what is not anymore?

Well, there's more aliens out there than the IDSE, and if the IDSE were responsible, they wouldn't just be noticing humanity and being extremely interested in our development. Either someone else interfered, or we were a total accident.shichinanatsu wrote:i agree to evolution theory being a plot device.. if anyone 'seeded' life on earth, the IDSE would have known of it.. if so, yuki would have told that to kyon even during mysterique sign.. besides, who else has the ability to 'seed' earth life but the IDSE

Not intelligent ones. That's why they're interested in us.AuraTwilight wrote: Well, there's more aliens out there than the IDSE

There's PLENTY of intelligent aliens, but like the IDSE, they evolved in the sea of data. Humans are the only intelligent BIOLOGICAL creatures.

Er, I don't remember that. Quote?AuraTwilight wrote:There's PLENTY of intelligent aliens, but like the IDSE, they evolved in the sea of data. Humans are the only intelligent BIOLOGICAL creatures.
The only aliens I remember being confirmed are the IDSE and the MQCE/Canopy Domain, who have been unable to contact each other for aeons. Besides, they don't have physical bodies outside of the LHIs anyway.

There's the Cave Cricket, the aliens that were bonding to dogs in Volume 8, etc. etc. So we're probably supposed to assume that there's likely a whole ecosystem of data lifeforms.

Oh, right, those. Damn, why did I forget about them?AuraTwilight wrote:There's the Cave Cricket, the aliens that were bonding to dogs in Volume 8, etc. etc. So we're probably supposed to assume that there's likely a whole ecosystem of data lifeforms.
Wait, do they even count as intelligent, though? From what I gathered, the cave cricket was just following its instincts/programming/whatever.
I need to reread Vol. 8...

It was able to manipulate the psyche of the Computer President along with the entirety of the internet to resurrect itself. It may not have been humanoid in intelligence, but it was clearly intelligent. It might've had an entirely different, but equal/greater intellect.
