I just want to mention the amazing job done so far by the Spanish translators of Suzumiya Haruhi.

Are the Spanish translations based on the English translations? A Japanese story is translated into Chinese, from Chinese it's translated into English and from English it's translated into Spanish.

It's a funny world, isn't it?

Sometime in the future, the Japanese version will be lost...

and we'll have to translate it from Spanish to Japanese...
