What manga?

Haruhi-chan and Disappearance of Nagato are NOT written by Tanigawa, if that's what you're referring to.

What manga?
Kagerou Meikyuu (~Amnesia labyrinth~), currently on Dengeki Bunko magazine. And yes, it's on my current reading list.

Is the manga more popular than Haruhi? Anime fandom is still holding the torch for it, but has the mainstream Japanese fans forgotten it by now? I'm curious because my impression of Japanese editors was that they'd stalk their writers/artists like a lion stalks an antelope on the safarai until the writer produced new work.

However, if he's writing something that's making more money than Haruhi made, the situation makes more sense.

The Haruhi fandom is just as ridiculous in Japan as it is over here.

Don't forget that Kadokawa owns Haruhi as a franchise: Now that the second season is out, we may see some new novel content as well.

But the second season isn't out. They're still "rebroadcasting the first season".

I don't expect any news on the novel front until after Kadokawa officially acknowledges the new episodes, which at best isn't likely to be until they start releasing DVDs for them (I suspect BLR and E8 will be on the first).

I hope "Amnesia labyrinth" doesn't mean he forgot the story and lost his way.

Technically, this is the "new season", not a "first" or "second".

But I digress.

Anyway, we just need to wait for the July Sneaker.

To quote the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haruhi_Suzumiya
"An official parody four-panel comic strip titled The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya-chan by Puyo started serialization in Shōnen Ace on July 26, 2007 and in The Sneaker on August 30, 2007. The first bound volume was released on May 26, 2008, the second on December 26, 2008. Another four-panel parody manga, Nyoro~n Churuya-san by Eretto (Utsura Uraraka), was originally a dōjinshi, starring a smoked cheese-loving, super deformed version of Tsuruya, published in three volumes (released on August 2006, February 2007, and October 2007) before beginning serialization in the magazine Comp Ace in November 2008. Another manga, The Disappearance of Yuki Nagato-chan (長門有希の消失, Nagato Yuki-chan no Shōshitsu?), also by Puyo, will start serialization in Kadokawa Shoten's Young Ace in July 2009."
(Please, correct it if its wrong ;))
