I am actually more interested in Derf, seems that Saito is now Gandalf again, but there seems to be a problem... and No I haven't watched the Anime and I won't

Yea he didn't seem to exactly be backing saito s decision to return to his role as gandalfr. Perhaps he knows a lot more than he has said, in fact I am pretty certain of that. Def always seems to have the answers to everything when he decides to speak up but for some reasons not yet revealed he all most never decides to do so. It is possible that he knows the road that they are heading down and why these users of void and their familiars are suddenly appearing. He simply might not think it's the right path and was trying to avoid it by leading saito away on his own quest to return home. Or i could be putting way to much into this.

Maybe Derf's just senile most of the time, though with him, we never could tell, hm......

Anyways, talk about being a total idiot. Just ask her to pinch you or something, not totally screw your chance to, uh, screw.

Well, if its that quick, at least we could get back to the main plot. Though I wonder, how does Gandalfr work anyway? No matter how strong someone is before they become Gandalfr, once they obtain it, they just start at the same power level? Meaning that each Gandalfr is the same as before?

Maybe we'll need to wait for later chapters, or this won't ever be explained? Once again, we have to wait for Derf, which most likely would explain things at the last or worst possible moment.

Though teh strength is the same, the knowledge how to fight and confidence of Saito without a doubt is different, thus making him stronger than he was before.

Derf answered that already... remember the fight vs Wardes? Derf said Gandalf "emotions" make him stronger, being anger and hatred good fuel for the Gandalf power... I am willing to bet that Love is the jetfuel of the Gandalf Familiar :p

While stronge emotions will make gandalfr stronger and faster.

What dark is saying, is that now saito actually understands a bit about how to properly fight someone; he is much stronger than he was before. All saito was doing before was using the speed, strength and endurance given to him by being gandalfr to overwhelm his opponents. Now that he understands the basics of combat he can formulate strategies to take advantage of his enemies and pounce on openings he would have never seen before.

and I know that, but he said the strength was the same, and that is not actually correct

But gandalf is a strange power, I mean the less balanced the person is, the stronger they are (I mean with anger/hatred, etc) and at the same time a person that is full of hatred can't think clearly and as such can't come with strategies to fight in different situations... maybe that is why Derf is a smart sword, Gandalf can get pissed and hate all he wants, after all derf can usually come with strategies himself (not to mention that power that allows him to control his master)

Aw at least the season 3 anime ends at Volume 10 exactly! So this means I have 1-2 seasons to look forward to. Man I wish my knowledge of japanese is better. I'm indebted to you, Dark , for translating the novels at this pace! Keep it up !

I think that is a miss interpretation of the nature of gandalfr s power. He is a shield not a berserker. I think its more like the stronger his feelings are towards the person he is fighting in front of, the more he wants to protect them, the stronger and faster he gets. Hate and anger dont really have much to do with it. Thus he could still want to protect that person desperately and be clear minded.

so it had elemtents of volume 11 and 12 in it...

so...if they would have a 4th season...it would start at volume 13

Yeah that is correct ... but presumably, the next season will include elements of skipped parts from volume 11 and 12 too to fill up the missing secrets. Argh!! I can't wait to see the next season!!
