The Familiar of Zero LN to Continue After Author's Passing

Post by Botan »

I have jumped a few times after reading that.

http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/20 ... ing/.89697
Sou Yurugi, the editor-in-chief for the MF Bunko J imprint of Kadokawa (Media Factory), announced on Thursday that the imprint has decided to continue the Zero no Tsukaima (The Familiar of Zero) light novel series.

Author Noboru Yamaguchi was planning the end of the light novel series before he passed away due to cancer in 2013. According to MF Bunko J, he dictated the remaining plot of the series, including its ending, from his sickbed and entrusted it to the editors.

The editors acknowledged that the publisher has received a steady stream of requests to continue the series from fans, and added that the late novelist's family also expressed their desire that the series be completed.
I can't express how grateful I am for author for author for thinking about his readers even in his hard and painful days.

I guess what I wished for yesterday came through! LOL. There's no news on how they are planning to finish the series though, perhaps a compact volume closing up all the plots?
Winter's the time of the year,
when the cold chill the skin,
from the very within,
but you grasped my hand,
your eyes shedding a frozen tear.
Our eyes met,
and warmth filled the air.

I had read some where but I can not remember exactly where that the author had planed to finish the series by vol 22 so I'm guessing that he had dictated all the text for both volumes before his death. and I'm glad that the family and the publisher are going to respect his wishes that the series be completed.
Always on the hunt for good Anime and their associated Light Novels, Manga. :)

It's great news, that they complete this wonderful story. Maybe translators will also come back. It was my first light novel so reading this to the end would be REALLY great :)

I came to post this here as soon as I found out about it. I'm so happy he told the editors his plans before his passing, I figured it was lost forever. I think this calls for a reread :)

Is there still anyone around to translate it? It's been a long time, but the last time I was around here there was barely anyone still active and translating. I'm betting after this year-long hiatus there won't be anyone left....

My day was really made with this announcement. While it will not be written by Yamaguchi himself, as long as the Editors and the new author stick to the vision of Yamaguchi, this might turn out to be something all fans have been waiting for. The narrative and writing style of Yamaguchi is thankfully not unique to such an extent that someone else would not be able to adapt his style without problems. I can't wait for the final two volumes!

I'm making translating chapter 19 of the series my priority now, after I get all my other work done.

I wish that things like this happened more often.

Hopefully those news will eliminate whatever reasons had prevented people from translating the already released volumes.
Always wondering why do translators go AWOL?

I wonder if somebody will register for Chapter 9 from volume 18, ACRONYM have dropped it https://www.baka-tsuki.org/project/inde ... er:ACRONYM
Status: Currently INACTIVE(sorry for not finishing the volume). You are FREE TO CONTINUE where I left-off(Volume 18 Chapter 9) (updated Sept 4, 2014)
BTW, I hope illustrator will be the same, I quite liked his style. I have checked his blog but no news about so far.

Hmm. I guess I could take it for now. Will have to wait for the other translators to return.

Could someone help out as an editor? While I've relatively confident of my english writing skills, I think some of the lexicon and grammar mistakes may be overlooked while I'm translating.

Thanks for taking that lacking chapter.

I would like to, but unfortunately I'm not native English users and my skills are dubious. So I can be only some sort of last resort for catching obvious miswriting if anybody else take that.

Well, I've edited a little bit in the past for this story, so I could try. Native English speaker here :)
