What language is this?

Filipino?

well,i know Tagalog is from the Philippines....

But once again, another project starter without any contacts here, so please translator please get in contact with me.

and if anyone can read this language, can you please check over that its what it says it is?

especially interested in what this part is about:

* Calderon's English-Spanish-Tagalog Dictionary
* Bansa.org Tagalog-English Dictionary

I assume in the latter it is talking about language standard? can someone tell me if this is sensible?
:|

Just a note, that unless i see at lease one translated chapter within the a week, (Insert/prologues do not count) i will have to take it down.

Unless i'm contacted by the translator.

sorry, i can't allow projects to go up without showing a commitment to it, with at leased one translated chapter, or contact from the translator about it.

You can either ignore the Baka-Tsuki Administration Staff & publish ONE TRANSLATED CHAPTER, Contact a member of Administration/Staff about it, or do both.

But you must do one of them

It's indeed Filipino (Tagalog)

And since online dictionaries and online translations are bad for this language ... (and it was even hard to find one: http://filipinotranslator.net/translate.php)

You should add something on the project page:
The Suzumiya Haruhi series is available in the following languages:

Español (Spanish)
Français (French)
Tiếng Việt (Vietnamese)
Italiano (Italian)
Português do Brasil (Brazilian Portuguese)
Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian)
Русский (Russian)
Polski (Polish)
Wikang Tagalog (Tagalog)

Note: Translation progress varies for each version.
If you want to translate the series into another language, please contact the Baka-Tsuki staff

Just made it easier, they should at leased published one complete chapter along with the main & registration page within one week, or i'll pull it down.

Or they can just contact a staff member and not worry about such things.

This part is the english "Story Synopsis".

thanks vaelis,

dictionary thing is kinda strange.

none of the other projects have it, wondering if its just making it difficult for themselves, wondering if i should cut it off....but without a tagalog translator.....oh well.

if the translator doesn't contact me, or don't put a translated chapter up in the next week, then i'll pull it down.

harsh, but what can i do? :/

would be better if the translator contact me.

*hopes he gets contacted*

umm.. i wanna be a translator for the tagalog SHnY, but i don't know who to contact to send my translation.. i already made some progress on chapter 1, but i don't know who to email it to. btw, the prologue translation was nice, but i still believe tagalog isn't fit for reading, it 'grew up' as a spoken tongue (fyi, tagalog is a dialect, and is the base dialect for my country's nat'l language, filipino.)

tagalog is a dialect?

hmm.

well, that's okay, i mean Cantonese is a dialect, but its widely spoken all over the world, compared to the official mainland version.

yeah, and it gets worse..

tagalog as a dialect has two distinct versions; the urban, lowland, whatever-else-have-you version which was used as the base for filipino-much to the dismay of other sociolingguistic groups (it is accentless, has roughly the same grammar as english, and is fond of borrowing words from other dialects and languages), and the upland, backwater, rural version which is slowly but surely dying (it is accented, follows the same grammar as urban tagalog, but has a largely different vocabulary from the urban version - kind of like shakespeare's thee and thou as compared to today's british english, including all the slang enough to turn the Queen's ears blue..)

hmm...just a question, if tagalog has two different class types, why did the translator just make life easier and go with official Flipino language? What made you go with Tagalog? Is there a large population of Flipino speak/read tagalog or something?

as for SHnY being Tagalog and not Filipino, i have absolutely no idea.. i'm just a baka-tsuki wanting to volunteer as a translator for a version in my country's language (though i can't spare that much time 'coz i'm still having classes, maybe come april when it's summer vacation here in the phils..)

As being some random guy who just signed up (again) :( (keep forgetting to post)
I too would also like to help with the translations with the Tagalog version.
And from what I remember in high school Filipino is actually Tagalog.
Back then it was called Tagalog, but recently it has now been called Filipino.
(I don't know the exact reasons behind this though)

i think it's because the guys responsible for declaring filipino as the national language didn't want outrage from the other major sociolingguistic groups.. it was a bias issue back then, as there were a couple of dialects that had more speakers than tagalog, it just so happened that tagalog was what's spoken in the capital.
