Indeed. I'm not going to be 19 until next June. Let us mock the Ojisans.

aren't they more like over-aged senpai? i was thinking 'oji-san' applied to a 10-20yr difference

Yes, I think Oji-san are meant for older people... and ermmm... if possible, cut the "over-aged" part? ^^" It hurts my heart...

Oji/Baa-san is for the 30yr+

Oyaji/Oba-san are for the 27yr+ group,

Aniki/Aneki is for the 25yr +

Onii/onee-san is for the 20yr+

Senpai is for the 18yr+

kouhai is for everything below.

:)

this got me thinking.. aren't these terms mostly relative? let's see.. tomoya call his dad 'oyaji', and in context it seems to imply refusing to acknowledge the latter as father. (plus he looks to be in his late 40s to early 50s)

the senpai-kouhai relationship also isn't so bound by age gaps, more like gaps in mastery of a discipline. (of course, this is usually seen in the school setting)

that reminds me.. what's the deal between 'chichi-ue' and 'otou-sama'? they're both used in an a sense of superlative formality, but i don't quite see the difference.. (same with 'hahao-ue' and 'oka-sama')

edit: Shadow, when i said over-aged senpai i was referring to those already in their mid-20's (and i don't think you're one of them, so don't sweat it 8) ), since quite a number of people here seem to be in their mid- to late teens.

what about it? We don't have an agreement when you change from a senpai to a aniki. Whether it by your place in member list by post count, or by the sheer number of your posts.

for accuracy's sake that should be based on the posts per day, tallied since date of membership. you know, the one u see in ur UCP

its a good measure statistically, albeit one highly prone to spammers :?
