Question:

When dedicated anime channels air in your countries, are the shows dubbed or subbed? Do you get a choice between the two?

99% of the time they are dubbed. And most of the time terribly so. I wish we had the option. :(

Unfortunately I've recently moved house and we only have a basic cable package now, and I'd only just heard that raptureTV was showing stuff before I left.

They used to show Excel Saga and a few others on the SciFi channel at around 5:30am too. :p Not sure if that's still the case any more, but it was certainly one of those moments where Sky+ came in handy.

And weep not for my Beyblade corrupted soul, as luckily I was being extremely sarcastic. ^.^

I still remember watching the crappy malay dubs on NTV7 during my primary school days. Stuff like Digimon in malay, Doraemon in malay, kenshin in english, you're under arrest in malay, beyblade in malay, naruto in malay, and now, surprise surprise, BLEACH in MALAY! Woohoo!!

Seeing that anime is slowly losing popularity FOR NO REASON SINCE THEY'RE SHOWING TOP-NOTCH HIGH QUALITY ANIME, they've decided to skip to nicktoons now.

Now we have... SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS in Malay!

"Ei squidward, pergi mana ni?"

The idiots who can't understand what's bittorent, have to rely on lousy dubbing, and Malaysia-made fansubs.

Ever seen an official VCD with fanart for a cover? Welcome to Malaysia.

I've seen a Trinity Blood VCD once that had a shiny original logo on it. When you popped it into the disc tray, it said:

"Shinsen Subs Present:"
"This is a free fansub. Not for sale, rental or eBAY."

Haha, I was totally ripped off once. Bought what I thought to be the boxed original set of Evangelion.

Load the disc and the first message said, "if you paid for this, you've been ripped off".

I'm awaiting their ripped off version of Higurashi.

"This is a free fansub. If you try to profit from this..."

"Killer lolis will be after you."
"Santa Mion will come down your chimney tonight."
"I wonder what will happen, kana, kana?"

That would definitely be one of those times when rippers should pay attention to the free fansub warnings. Never tempt fate around killer-lolis. Ever.
