What's so good about Ecchi?

And I just remembered one of the ecchi mangas I quite like: Trinity Seven. Even though the translation manages to entertain me from time to time as well...

I don't want to say too much, but the protagonist is hilarious. He's a pervert, he's open about it, and he's not retarded, leading to hilarious boke-tsukkomi-routines for pages on end. And a lot of stuff gets lampshaded (Protag: "Maybe this was meant to be a love comedy?" - "Seems like it. But isn't it a good thing?"). Actually, just read it yourself. You might laugh your ass off, I know I did when I first found it...

Also, there's magic, and the system behind it seems well thought-out while being really open, which is quite a bonus for me. (though the magic book is actually even more intriguing... great character for at least one reason)
