So for a while I've have been in a sort of inner conflict about traps. Not your everyday mouse and bear traps but your other kind of traps. I mean i don't know what to do on the topic. I mean it's hard for me to take any sort of position on it. So I was wondering what you guys thought about them.

See, I'm one for anything cute. Most traps are cute, so they are fine in my book.

I'm not going to blatantly hate them.

It's certainly weird, but they are people too.

When you talk about traps, do you mean in the LNs, or in reality?

If you mean in LNs, then I suggest you don't think too much about it. I second what hobogunner said. Like them for their cuteness. I see Hideyoshi as a guy that does interesting things. I mean, there are tomboys and all, whats so special about a guy that is like a girl. Besides, hes not like a girl except in appearance(Someone please count the number of times he tries to convey the message that hes a guy across).

If you mean in reality, such as people who had underwent sex change operations, or people who were born to look like the opposite gender. Not as extreme as Hideyoshi, but I have seen on the news once about a guy who molested a female on the bus, and after a long time, the female could not take it and got the police to arrest the molester. The reason why the "female" took so long to get the police is in fact because he is a guy, that looks female. This kind of reminds you of what happened in vol 2 of baka to test doesn't it? And the molester will probably learn his lesson to stop molesting, since he went to jail for touching a guy...

If you want to take a position, you might want to consider if you have such a friend, or even to find out your girlfriend is one. These will definitely get you started.

My two cents :

- LN traps : They add a comical side to stories, they are less cliché than the situations-that-usually-happen-to-the-clumsy-and-dense-MC-of-a-harem. They are characters you usually want to like, because they are "victims" of their situation, being treated/teased like the opposite gender by people of their same gender and of the opposite one, even though they behave like people of their gender.
Besides, can someone give examples of traps? I only know 2-3 traps, so that's better to give some examples known.

- IRL traps : Never met one before, so I don't have personal experience about them. But some of them can live with that, others not. Well, IRL, people are reacting logically, so if someone looks like a girl/boy but is the opposite gender, that's something people don't know at first glance. That's life, everybody judge everyone by their appearance.
I think that people who consider a trap of their same gender as a possible love partner are really rare. Same thing for traps that accept to be considered as someone of the opposite gender, they usually want to be considered as their true gender.

... I wrote something very confusing, but that's because this trend is recent and I'm reading books filled with nonsense, for school.
