Jason has a good review over at BlogSuki that might answer your questions.ben1234 wrote:Ya, I really don't get why so many people are all over Summer Wars.
It was good but not The Place Promised in Our Early Days or Eve no Jikan good. Hell, I'd say Voices of a Distant Star was about the same, if not a bit better.
Or is this the same as the Haruhi hype?

Re: Summer Wars
Nope, still don't get why everyone is all over Summer Wars.
Jason's review didn't help because I found Kurogane's review much less biased (Kuro didn't happen to like everything) and not so spoiling.
Let's admit it, Summer Wars just wasn't that good...
Or maybe I just didn't like the Sci-Fi part (let's just go with that)
I also happen to like Dark Mirage's review as well. He's one the of the few bloggers who are actually decent/good at analyses

Re: Summer Wars
It does share a bit of a history with Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and the Digimon movies, something to do with the staff or something
And besides, there's plenty of new stuff with no history and are less popular than one of those late night ads

Re: Summer Wars
I like the whole thing because is simple. Nothing to complex and family themed.
