What avatar?
Finished the entire Code Geass series without water, meals, breaks, or toilet from yesterday morning till now. It's pretty good, if not feeling like a cross between Death Note and Gundam Seed. It's DAMN predictable though. I don't really like the mech designs though. I prefer the ones they used early on, the early models, than the super complex, everyone has a custom super mech of every increasing power, later models. The one moment I couldn't predict in the show was when cyborg fella was actually loyal.
The thing about the characters is that I can't tell whether they intentionally portray the characters as being very... strange in inflection, making their emotions very hard to read or if it's a result of poor script. I'd like to believe it's the former though, as it's fun trying to figure out when Lulu is lying or not.

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
I think Sunrise has come a long way with their writing, pacing, and animation. Code Geass and Gundam 00 really show it. Most episodes had a decent cliffhanger that made you crave the next. Having a new episode to look forward to every week was really fun and exhilarating. Watching Code Geass as it aired made the series that much better. Sadly though in Gundam's case, there aren't really that many cliffhanger episodes, so most of the time I don't even realize the next episode it out until my roommate tells me about it.
Check out Toward the Terra (series) next. I want to see what you think of it. I was pleasantly surprised when I watched it on a whim.

Try this one. If it doesn't work try getting the single episodes here.

Error, invalid download link.
Lazy to get individual episodes. Why don't you create and seed it?

I'm at work right now. I'll see if I have time when I get home from class. Click on the link to the single episodes, the batch torrent is in there as well.

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
I was joking. I managed to find a torrent.
On a side note, Shounan Junai Gumi is hilarious but I keep having to force myself to continue since I know it'll always end in disaster. I've never read a manga which showed summer beach pick-ups to be successful.
edit: WHAT!!! Shounan Junai Gumi hasn't been finished translated yet?! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
HAHAHAHA...
Once again, my theory that Norio Wakamoto is in everything is again proven by his appearance in Towards the Terra!
xD
edit: Okay... getting bored of the emoing...
edit: Right, the emoing is really getting annoying and the pace of this show is so damn slow. Do people really like watching little kids have silly juvenile, illogical problems? Heck, if someone told me I had some telekinetic powers, I'd hug them and kiss them, not run away like a little baby and attempt to become normal again.
edit edit edit: This is what I hate about scriptwriters. They lack imagination. I mean, you've got an entire bloody ship filled solely with psychokinetic individuals and what do you use as weapons? LASERS. What on earth is wrong with them? Why should they be afraid of any enemy? If you can control anything with your mind, the potential is limitless! Why don't they just electrify all the electrons in the sky and fry everything? I mean, if they can manipulate and hack super high tech machinery with their minds, that shouldn't be a problem because obviously they can manipulate electrical charges already.
Or you know, they could smash the planes or choke the pilots, crush their trachea, etc. This is dumb and stupid. Why on earth would a government bother to waste money educating children if they're just going to eradicate their memories anyway? It's so much more efficient to raise these children so that their only known form of existence is "adulthood" in the first place. You avoid potential youth rebellion and you make sure these idiots don't know anything other than their current life. It's such a huge waste of resources, what they're doing. It's like an arts student wrote the plot. Brainless, useless morons.
And this wimp of a main character. I can already see him being consistently annoying throughout the rest of the show. Sorry TGM. This show is ridiculously illogical, dumb, and childish. Considering that it's original target market (as evidenced by the show time slot) was a young teen bracket, it clearly isn't for me.

Have you only watched like 3 episodes or something? Just keep watching dammnit. Trust me on this one. I gave up on it before as well, but when I went back and watched it, it impressed me. And all that psychokinetic stuff you were talking about, it does come.Umiman wrote:And this wimp of a main character. Damn. I could've sworn the time-skip was before that. Anywho, yes, persevere. I suggested it because of the awesomeness and the big psychic weapons and laser fights later (Crucifix beam lolz!).

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
Mmmm... any show that shoots a planet destroying plasma beam through a star to destroy a planet is good in my books. I still think Shin is an idiot though. And that forced evolution deus ex machina card they played was so bizzare.
Also... there's too much homosexual overtones for my tastes...

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
well the current animes i am watching this season is:Umiman wrote:Suggest an anime to watch!
I haven't been in the anime scene in ages, don't know what's up, what's down, and what's what. What's nice? Any sequels to nice shows? FMP3 out yet? Suzumiya Haruhi 2 out yet?
I'm sure you guys know what I like:
1. Main character isn't a kid.
2. Main character isn't a girl. (Exception for Cutey Honey!)
3. Giant orbital cannons, giant lasers, big boom, nukes, explosions, death, gore, people killing for the sake of killing, etc.
4. Emo must die.
5. Depressing endings must die.
So... anything?
Kannagi
To Aru Majutsu No Index
Clannad After Story
Chaos Head
Ef Tales of Melodies
Kemeko Deluxe
I refuse to watch Tora Dora till the novels
alot of these not meet your requirement
Kannagi- a slice of life but main is a kid and no big gun and laser. absolutely hilarious
To Aru Majutsu No Index a cool magic vs science show but again the male lead is a kid (well in terms of kid do u mean like a child? or a teen. anyway he's cool) thought kick ass action and an occasional lasers? (you know how big magic things are when they shoot ya?
Clannad After Story tomoya is out of high school so is a nice transition of life but we all know how is going to end.....
Chaos Head hmm character hallucinating and a conspiracy going on? though lots of swords no guns.
Ef Tales of Melodies again is a lovely show, it just has that atmosphere. anyway i think the endings will rock but the progression and backstory on the characters can make u emotionally sad.
Kemeko Deluxe to me is a love-ru on steriods. i think?

Re: In preparation for the end of finals...
Bomber: Thanks for the suggestions. I'll try to check some of them out. The reason why I mentioned that I don't want to watch shows featuring kids or girls is that I don't like illogical things, no matter how sexist that sounds. I enjoy intelligent, rational discussions about things extending beyond simple human understanding. Not endless rambling (Death Note), psychobabble (Evangelion), or discussions about who loves who the most and what defines love. An example of what I like is in Legend of the Galactic Heroes, where the entire series is about whether the best dictatorship is better than the worst democracy.
However, giant lasers tend to overrule all my concerns...
In any case, I just finished Towards the Terra. I have mixed feelings about it. On one hand, I don't like the presentation; from the shallow characters to the boring dialogue and whatnot. But I enjoy the question on whether humans can ever accept beings better than they are. I don't like the ending, because it's too naive and it doesn't resolve anything and I don't like the constant illogical situations. I enjoyed watching the big ships shoot each other but they were a bit.... underwhelming.
I think I've been spoiled by Legend of the Galactic Heroes. It just doesn't compare. I give it an average grade.
