Wow, Bleach's voice actors are plain horrible. Ichigo's and Orihime's VAs make they sound like they're other characters.
Haruhi: Wendy Lee - Good, great even.
Asahina: Stephanie Sheh - Good, fits the character, but I need to see the moe scenes.
Yuki: Michelle Ruff - Needs to be more melancholic
Kyon: Crispin Freeman - This one will be hard, Tomokazu Sugita was perfect at doing cynic characters with his particular voice. Renkotsu in InuYasha and Yuuichi Aizawa in Kanon 2 are good examples.
Koizumi: Johnny Bosch - Needs a more in-closet gay voice
Asakura: Bridget Hoffman - Weird, but I want to see her serious scenes.
Tsuruya: Kari Wahgren - Purrfect!

I'm surprised at what people are saying about the Bleach cast. With a few exceptions, I thought the original Japanese VAs were pretty awful, they read their lines like it was some cheap, local theater production. Everything was way too over the top, and a lot of the voices didn't match the character's appearance at all, especially Rukia.

Yup, he's done a ton of voices.
As for what little I heard of the dub, I'm impressed. Mikuru's my favorite of the new dub cast. Koizumi will be handled fine as well, even though the only bits I heard were from the bad movie/"Episode 00."

Some English actors can do this as well. Carrie Savage's normal voice sounds like it's on helium. Katie Leigh (not so much anime, but other cartoons) sounds forever 16, even though she's in her late 40s.then how come Japanese 20 year old to 30 year old girls can make their voices sound like prepubescant girls?
from onizuka-gto:
I agree - some are quite awful. Some are knockouts. Then again, I don't always find all of the original voicing to be that good, either. There's plenty of bad acting in many Japanese dubs and I tend to wince at a lot of "bad guy" voices, as well as most squeaky girls. All acting is usually a tossup IMO, and a good actor can sell a series or a bad one can destroy it.well some english dubs do alright, i mean the English voice for Major Motoko Kusanagi
is perfect, its mature, firm, and Adult Mikuru as hell, and voice of the poke was ok, child like and dammn annoying. lol.
Some do alright, others, not so good.... Rolling Eyes

Well, you know when there is a demand for young women with high pitch voices,Guest lol wrote:Because speaking higher is more polite
Speaking higher is considered cute
Speaking low in Japanese just... feels oddish
A supply usually follows.
Score 1 to Japanese Women tapping into the market.

personally, i like the sultry deeper feminine voice, or i could say the more boyish ones, they sound sport sexy, if there is such a word. lol.
Mind you alot of Japanese girls have low voices when they speak English, I've noticed this for many Asian women, when they speak an oriental language it goes back up. The exception is my sisters friend she speak English with the same high pitch as well as canto/mandarin
I reckon its just the language that pitch the tone for females.
But I could be wrong...
:p

Anyone formed some opinions based on the small previews we get of the English voices here?
"Mikuru Beam!" sounded fair enough to me at least.
