Yeah, I know that. Look at Hirano.

Although I have heard things, I consider it all gossip and slander. So, I do not pay it any attention. Regardless of whether any famous person is like that or not, that really is none of the public's business, unless that person makes a point of acting that way or saying certain offensive things in public.

I was comparing the fact that she is completely the opposite of Yuki-Onna. Oh well...

I remember back when she first started, Hirano Aya was humble and polite

Now she's like a tamer Lindsay Lohan

Apparently, nobody seems to be understanding my point. Allow me to please clarify myself.

I DO NOT CARE, AND IT IS NONE OF MY BUSINESS NOR ANYONE ELSE'S BUSINESS. :)

Now, I am cool with talking about their voices, talent, and work. Otherwise, I am totally put off by stuff outside of that.

Though I normally don't give a piece of man, I have to say that when your reputation as a seiyuu goes second...

You know, while the person in question does have a certain responsibility over their reputation, they only have themselves to blame if they screw up. At the same time, other people have a certain responsibility to uphold that reputation. Not doing so is called "slander" at the very least. When someone is down, or even if they are not, they do not need someone kicking them with their words to belittle them further. Ultimately, it is the responsibility of everyone over their own mouths and ears whether or not they speak and listen to slander. The more common and "benign" form of this is "gossip." No one likes being talked about behind their backs, regardless of the topic or whether it is positive or negative. Positive gossip can very quickly and easily turn into negative gossip.

My personal view on gossip and slander is that it is akin to murder. How? When a person's reputation is killed, you might as well have killed the person because of the shame that it forces a person to feel. It causes a person to lose their job, family, friends, etc. until it sometimes can cause them to commit suicide. If you do not believe me, just watch the news. You will eventually stumble across something. While that person might not initially know about it, they will eventually feel that they are being ostracized. Most of us know these feelings. We want to bury ourselves in a hole and never come out of it, regardless of whether what was said was true or not.

For all of the above reasons and more, I wholeheartedly disapprove of gossip and slander, regardless of whether it is a seiyuu, a bum on the street, someone rich or poor, famous or not, etc. Do we really need to be slamming each other like this to be "functional human beings?"

pretty simple really.. its the thrill of doing something in the hopes of getting away with the consequences. we all know how power and responsibility are supposed to go together, but the promise of raw power is just too alluring.. the slightest off-hand insult means a lot from hundreds, thousands of mouths..

said dilemma is universal to the acting industry. (same goes with politics and religion, but that's OT..) apparently its too irresistible to some to see just how different the role is from the actor/actress. we fall victim to illusions from behind the 4th wall, and to desires of finding fault in said illusions to bring them closer to our realm. all while conveniently forgetting that the actors and actresses themselves are normal people to begin with.

BOT.. pretty obvious that there's a consensus for all-time voice actor in wakamoto-sama.. aside from typical household names though, i much prefer some of the lesser-known men and women..
Spoiler! :
okiayu ryotaro (SEED's andrew waltfeld, etc etc)
takehito koyasu (SEED's Mu La Flaga)
masami kikuchi (AMG's Morisato Keiichi)
nakamura hidetoshi (AMG's Kami-sama)
ikeda shuuichi (Char Aznable, SEED Destiny's Gilbert Durandal)
toshihiko seki (Wing's Duo, SEED's Rau, SEED Destiny's Rey)
masashi ebara (SnS' Alastor)
hayami shou (SnS' Sairei no Hebi)

inoue kikuko (Belldandy, etc. 8) )
kawasumi ayako (TH's Akari, etc etc)
horie yui (TH's Multi, LH's Naru, etc etc)
ochiai yurika (TH2's Konomi)
nabatame hitomi (SnS' Margery Daw, etc etc)
rikimaru noriko (TH2's Manaka, Mashiro's Miu)
sato rina (Index's Railgun)
chihara minori (Nagato Yuki, etc etc)
.. on second thought, most of them ARE household names.. :? maybe i should've gone with VN seiyuu instead, only that the male of the species is hard to come by in such a group, much less any with considerable talent..

None of that makes it right nor is helpful though...

BOT, do you find it easier to remember voice actors' or voice actresses' names/roles?

at first encounter in either lead or support roles, imo seiyuu are likelier to be remembered by roles. past a certain number of significant roles (say, 2-4), then a seiyuu can start being recognized for their screen names..
