Welcome to the NHK!
Noticed there wasn't a thread on this(if it is then my apologies).
Rather old(2006 I think),but one good slice-of-life anime.
I enjoyed it from beginning to end,it has drama, otaku culture, romance and it's full of twists and turns.I personally loved it,one of the best anime I've seen.

I read some of the manga quite a while back. I was amused by it. Did the anime follow it faithfully?

Re: Welcome to the NHK!
I have seen the anime and read the book. The anime changed quite a few things, but it was faithful overall. I will say that it would be a good idea to read the book and watch the anime. I have not read the manga though. I heard that it kind of screwed things up...

There's a 'Welcome to the NHK' novel?Does the story continue,or ends where the anime ended it?

Let's just say that the ending is slightly different. It is enough for you to want to buy the book to read it. Buyer beware though: it has a parental advisory warning on it for good reason.

I didn't really like it. Too depressing. Not bad, but not on my list of favorites.

Re: Welcome to the NHK!
Just done reading vol. 8 of the manga (German translation) but I found the end rather lacking. So my question is whether this ending is also different regarding the end of the novel? At least its also very different regarding the anime ending. (Also I couldnt get the novel) So I would it appreciate if I could get the ending of the novel as a spoiler if it is different?
Please don't mind my bad english since I'm german.

Re: Welcome to the NHK!
The end is different from the anime. The light novel is relatively short and quick to read. I recommend reading it, as it is the original material that both the anime and manga are based off of. There are some other big differences between the anime and the light novel as well such as character appearances.

Re: Welcome to the NHK!
It might be better to order it from the publisher and see if you can have it shipped to Germany. It would be probably much, much cheaper.

I don't think the publisher makes them anymore, they're certainly not going to fire up the machines for one order. The USD prices are ridiculous too
