If the whole mecha = awesomeness thing were true, we would not have to explain the embarrassment of multiple Gundam and other mech series' existence.
I have no clue why they did not put all of her notable roles there, except for the fact that it would be a long list. Also, characters such as Happy from "Fairy Tail" are not exactly tsundere.

I think that Naruto has taken a recent dive in popularity ratings, which may be affecting things somewhat. Both Naruto and Bleach seem to have gone downhill in quality in terms of the storytelling.
Looking at the types of characters voted for in this poll, it seems that voters like characters who are cute, have some substance as characters, can hold their own in a fight, and are not overly tsundere or violent.
