What anime would you list in your Top 5 category?

Post by HolyCow »

For me, it would be:

1- Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (9.5/10)
I think this needs no explanation. Without SuzuHaru there wouldn't be a Baka Tsuki, and without a Baka Tsuki there wouldn't be a "What anime would you list in your Top 5 category?" thread.

2- AIR (9/10)
Honestly, I cried during a rewatch. Episode 11 just had be in tears. LiA's Aozora + Mother-Daughter-Touching-Scene + KyoAni's godlike animation = One freakin powerful scene. I loved this scene so much

3- Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu! (9/10)
It's just pure coincidence that my favorite 3 are done by KyoAni :D Fumoffu was one of my intros to anime, and I just loved the way this show turned out to be. One of the best comedy anime that doesn't get stale even after watching it 5 times.

4- Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (9/10)
Alright, although it has lousy animation, studio DEEN still managed to make Rena look psycho yet 5exy at the same time  The plot in Higurashi is interesting enough to keep me glued to the screen even after a few hours of watching it, and the music itself is pretty creepy at times. A really good psycho-thriller film. Now if only KyoAni were to do this with the conclusion arcs, I would rate it a lot higher.

5- Mai HiME (8.5/10)
Even though it had a really cheesy ending, Mai HiME still has one hell of a good drama. I clearly remember how Kazuya died in episode 8, and how I went "OMGWTF?" at that scene. Totally shocked that time. The only complaint is the lousy ending and the lack of a good male lead. Heck, Tate is so wimpy he makes Haruo look good in Magikano.

I'll post 6 - 10 later, gotta think about it for a while :D

In no particular order:

Haruhi, NHK, Evangelion, Cowboy Bebop, Digimon Season 1, Doraemon, Fumoffu, errr...

I'll put up the rest when I gain HolyCow's memory.

Addition: Excel Saga ep 1.
...Tg...g.g........... And Kol Ravensabbey cried,
..g...B...g........@.. "In Armok's name!!!!"
T...T..B..g........... And there was bloodshed.

You Sob... I was going to start watching that anime tomorrow.

1. Full Metal Panic! - Fumoffu - TSR (10/10)
Watching this through, it had everything I wanted in an anime and I find it flawless enjoyment. I can't get enough of it!

2. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu (9.5/10)
Coming very close with FMP, this is obviously a glorious anime thus is why I/We are all here. 8)

3. Great Teacher Onizuka (9.5/10)
I know the manga is better but the anime was still superb. I love the flow of the story and the characters that go along with it.

4. Love Hina (9/10)
First romance anime I ever watched. It showed me that anime wasn't always about dudes punching each other and screaming kamehameha!

5. Code Geass (9/10)
Even though its only on Ep13, this anime has me completely hooked into the story. I wan't to see more of it... NOW!

LOL @ monkey

Too bad for you I guess ^^

Still I didn't spoil much. You don't know how he dies, and who killed him...

And he's a pretty minor character anyway

P/S: What about my memory? O.o

*thinks hard for a couple of seconds*

1) Futakoi Alternative (10/10)
Read review.

2) Azumanga Daioh (10/10)
Again, read review.

3) Suzumiya Haruhi (10/10)
Awesomeness reincarnated.

4) Ninin Shinobuden (9.5)
Awesomeness that died when it ended, and was reincarnated into Suzumiya Haruhi. I know I gave Mahoraba and Paniponi a better rating but I liked Shinobu more.

5) Paniponi Dash (10/10)
Becky's too cute get anything less.

Now if you asked for 6-10:

6) Mahoraba (10/10)
Read review.

7) FMP Fumoffu & TSR (9.5/10)
I miss the giant laser guns other good mecha shows have.

8 ) Nanoha & Nanoha A's (8.5/10)
I know I gave Mai Hime and Tsukuyomi a better rating but I enjoyed Nanoha more.

9) Mai Hime (9/10)
I liked Hime more than Otome. Maybe it's because of the massive number of deaths or the action.

10) Tsukuyomi -MOON PHASE- (9/10)
The show was pretty good, though I'm sick of people complaining about the missing animation in the major battles. I mean, who cares about missing movement in like 1 minute worth of action.

You can't call it anime if if doesn't have those! That's like saying "He's a pro athlete runner, but he has no legs." WTF?!

Hmmm, not in order of preference...
1) SHnY
2) DBZ
3) Trigun
4) School Rumble
5) Berserk

Favourites? Hrmmm...

1) FLCL (10/10)
For me, this is everything an anime is supposed to be. Not the case for everyone though. It appears crazy, zany and comic the first time through, and the characters show themselves to be so much more intricate on the second/third run. I've seen it 6 times and I'm still looking for more.

2)Cowboy Bebop (9/10)
Fun for the whole family. If you've met anyone who actually disliked this anime, please introduce them to me immediately. They are a rare anomoly and I must dissect their entertainment synapses. This is a great starter for someone who's never seen anime.

3)SHnY(9/10)
This little show blew my socks off. 'nuff said.

4)Texhnolyze(8/10)
Slow start up, convoluted plot... So good. I mistakenly thought I was emotionally detached from it, until Ran died. I watched Fate/Stay Night right after this, poor Sabre didn't stand a chance. I just couldn't get into it after having seen something this intense.

5)Last Exile(8/10)
Gripping action sequences, lovable characters, and an overall great experience. Except for that one episode in the middle where nearly all the female characters declare their love for Claus. I think I should go rewatch this one.

I also loved NGE, but it's been a while since I've seen it. I should probably rewatch it before I inlude it in this list.

1) Haibane Renmei - The artwork, the mythology, the range of joy and loss -- this is easily my favorite TV series, animated or otherwise. It's simply beautiful.

2) Boogiepop Phantom - A nice bit of Crack Anime with disjointed timelines (Even more so than Haruhi), a few mysteries, a bit of horrific violence, and giggling speechless girls who throw butterflies at people. The animation is limited, but works perfectly to add a surreal experience. It's like Lain, but even more messed up.

3) Kino's Journey - Serene, smart, and a little like taking a ride out on a talking motorcycle -- it's going to be weird, but you'll love the view.

4) Cowboy Bebop - It has Jazz. Good Jazz. I cannot complain about this fact.

5) Haruhi Suzumiya - it has dancing, singing, aliens, time travelers, and a first episode that keeps getting funnier every time you watch it.

6-10 forthcoming

I would have to say(not much of an order here)

Haruhi
Fumoffu?

After this I go into more of an honorable mention type mode, too many good animes for a true top 5 after those two

Air
Kanon 2006(Wow. Apparently I just love KyoAni)
Shakugan no Shanna
Death Note
Shuffle!
Cardcaptor Sakura
Strawberry Panic(I really enjoyed this series for some reason, perhaps because everyone I wanted ended up together in the end.)

You placed all 5 of KyoAni's anime in your list! XD

For some reason, I didn't enjoy TSR that much. I hated the long and boring parts during the Hong Kong arc (Ep 10 and 11 I think), which seemed more like filler to me. I did enjoy episode 9 though. Chidori in the rain = awesomeness.

If the remaining episodes of Futakoi Alternative are of the same quality/substance of the first three episodes, I'm including it in my top 10 list :P
