Elfen Lied
Ok, after watching the first episode, I'm having mixed feelings about it. Granted, I expected a lot of violence and a lot of gore similar to Higurashi, but this was something totally unexpected. Tons of nudity, blood and gore, I can't help but have mixed feelings about it.
The Opening scene had already shocked me with the large amounts of nudity it contained. I brushed it off, since it was a pretty artistic opening, and nudity has a lot to do with art. 5 minutes into the show, I think I've seen more detached limbs, blood spurts and exploding body parts than an entire arc in Higurashi. The nudity doesn't help much either.
I expected something more mature, judged by its "Mature" rating, but even so, I was quite shocked at the entire first ep. I'll continue to watch a couple more episodes before I give it a real review, but in the meantime, I'd like to know what are your opinions on the show?
P/S: Can someone (ben in particular) recommend a good gore/thriller anime like Higurashi? Is there anything you consider to be better or equal to that series. As far as anime is concerned, I don't think I've watched much horror/thriller/gore. Any good ones?

50% meaningless sex scenes, 50% boring repeated scenes of violence.Guest lol wrote:Ever seen hostel?
It's really split that way too. The first half is 50% meaningless sex scenes, the other half is the violence.
Hrm, can anyone remember those movies about people who manage to avoid death due to some premonition and the rest of the movie is about how death catches up to them?
