For some reason, I lost all interest in voting when I found out I wasn't able to vote for Rena as my favourite female character...

Alright, I still voted in the end >.<

Best Female Char: Suzumiya Haruhi (Didn't like any of the others much)
Best Male: Kyon (Needs no explanation)
Best Villain: Sonozaki Shion (Again, lack of a better choice)
Best Developement: N/A (As much as I would have loved to vote for Higurashi, there's little to no char developement at all, unless you count them turning insane ;P)
Best Horror: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (DUH!)
Best Action: Fate/Stay Night (I hated BLEACH for the fillers, and Blood+ was just plain lacking)
Best Fantasy: Fate/Stay Night (Can't think of a better one >.<)
Best Comedy: Suzumiya Haruhi (As expected)
Best Romance: Honey and Clover II (Misread the title -.- Luckily it still fits)
Best Drama: Honey and Clover II (Needs no explanation)
Best Mecha: Eureka 7 (Needs no explanation)
Best Quick Watch: N/A
Best Fanservice: Magikano (Ero-Neko Panties FTW)
Best Newcomer: Kanon (2006) (Needs no Explanation)
Best Anime Overall: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Now you wouldn't expect anything less from someone with a Rena sig would you?)
Best Visuals: Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (KYO-ANI FTW)
Best Story: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (Needs no explanation)
Best Soundtrack: Mai Otome (Call me crazy, but I liked it -.-)
Best OP/EN: Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (The opening is PERFECT for the show)

Ben's Expert(!?) Opinion
Spoiler! :
SHnY can be considered ecchi due to Mikuru abuse, though I was pretty sure Inukami! or Amaenaide Yo! would win fanservice of the year.

Geass and Kanon both lost to Death Note!? I demand a re-vote!

I always thought Ouran was funnier than SHnY.

Animation would obviously go to SHnY.

The only good matches against Haruhi for best female character were Revy and Real.

Ginko was a lot more interesting than Kyon could ever hope to be.

I never saw Anemone or Balalaika as villians, but as misguided people who horribly needed plastic surgery, so my only choices were either Creed or Shion. Naturally, I picked Shion instead of the plain and generic Creed.

The hardest choice was best quick watch, since I had to pick either REC or Hantsuki. In the end though, I flipped a coin and chose Hantsuki.

The overall award obviously goes to SHnY, no questions asked.

I thought Mushishi was too episodic to win best story, Noein would have made a better choice.

I was upset I couldn't vote for Jun or Mizuho for best female character so I didn't vote for this, but IMO, I would have picked Revy out of the choices

Shana and E7 both deserve their best OP/ED and best soundtrack awards.

I didn't vote for Juuousei for best Sci-fi, which left E7 and Noein. I eventually chose E7 after hours of thinking (more like 5 minutes), despite the horrible ending.

Ever noticed how it's the blood splattering anime that wins the best action anime of the year? Not like I'm complaining or anything.

Mushishi won the best fantasy award without any effort.

Horror goes to Higurashi for so many reasons.

How did Higurashi got nominated for best Drama I'd never know, I'm just pissed that Hantsuki didn't win.

What were they smoking when they nominated SHnY as a romance? The romance genre is one of the favorite genres and I really thought Hantsuki could win this.

The last one is also the easiest one, best character development of the year will obviously go to: E7. Why? Because no other anime developed its characters as well as E7 did.

As much as I love the show, I didn't think SHnY deserved to win 6 awards and 1 runner-up.

The only disappointment was that Higurashi didn't win best story. I mean WTF? I thought the story was brilliant ;P

Most people wouldn't understand Higurashi's story.

Eh... it's all only popular anime... I feel all indie and emo now.

Higurashi has one of the most brilliant plots ever, especially the way they do parallel stories ;P

But I kinda agree that in the end it's more a question of 'which series is popular' than 'which series deserves it'.
