Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines

Post by ben1234 »

I think the PSP version got leaked early (yarrrr) and I'm pretty sure it has the same story as the DS version

The story:
Spoiler! :
  • Altair arrives in Cyprus with Maria (that chick Altair didn't kill back in AC1) to investigate what is being shipped there
  • Finds the resistance's hideout that looks strangely similar to the hideouts in AC1
  • He works with some dude from the resistance called Alexander to kill some Templar dudes + a "witch" + some pirates
  • Maria goes missing the majority of the time, either missing or kidnapped
  • Altair finds out about the Templar's archive hidden somewhere in Cyprus
  • Kill more people, watch Maria sneak into a Templar's castle by pretending to be a consort or something similar
  • Alexander's dead body + propaganda from the Templars turn the people against Altair but they go home when Altair uses the Apple of Eden
  • Turns out the archive is in an underground cave and you have to fight Armand Bouchart at the bottom
  • Apparently, the Templars were shipping the entire archive OUT of Cyprus, instead of importing something IN
  • Undercover cave collapses just because it has to collapse
  • Altair + Maria decide to go east, somehow leading to the events of AC2
Pros:
  • The bosses actually require the use of the dodge button (they have health bars too)
  • There are upgrades you can buy for Altair like more health and knives, but some stuff like auto-guard doesn't seem to work
  • The graphics are some of the best for PSP
  • Music is pretty good though it can be better
  • The cut scenes for Altair's close-up kills are still around
Cons
  • Repetitive - much of the stuff from AC1 is still around but they took out the eagle vision for some reason
  • The control and camera is really annoying and it doesn't seem a lot of care went into it
  • Nothing happens in "reality" - you're just lying in the Animus without any explanations (you don't even know if it's Desmond in there)
  • The story assumes you played through AC1 and doesn't even give you a short sentence of what happened in AC1
  • Some bugs and glitches that includes falling through buildings and being invisible (could be because I have a leaked and pirated copy)
  • Few enemy types, ~8 if we ignore bosses
  • The guards still lack common sense: When there's like 10 dead bodies around and all you see is a white cloaked dude with clasped hands with knives and swords looking at you, the smartest idea is to check on the bodies and yell "Who did this?!"
  • The "stealth" factor of being an assassin is removed; there's nothing stopping you from killing all the guards in a castle
  • The civilians only serve to get in the way; they have no purpose and are too few to even block your path
  • There's really no reason to do the sidequests besides getting a small amount of upgrade points
  • The game is VERY short, ~5 hours
  • Guards seem to come out of nowhere just to prolong the fights
  • You can still kill the average group of guards with nothing but counters
  • You can't instantly kill a boss anymore, which is really what an assassin does
In short, just click the spoilers to learn who Altair ends up with and forget this game even exists

Assassin's Creed is not exactly a smooth transition to the PSP. There can be particularly long game, or one with a varied game and is not without its problems, but it is enjoyable to play. As long as you want to decapitate soldiers repeatedly with a huge sword, of course.
